Smelly face! Good Heavens, but Luna's face REEKS! I wash it every night with a baby wipe or just a warm cloth. I'm afraid to use anything else on it, but was *thinking* of making a baking soda solution and brushing it through her beard, then gently rinsing a minute or two later. Would that be safe, or is there something else I can try? She was just at the vets last month and is perfectly healthy, so I don't think it's a health issue. She's always had a bad smelling beard, but it seems to have gotten much worse lately after I stopped giving her Angels Eyes. I might have to start giving it to her again if I can't figure out how to get rid of this awful smell. Yuck! My poor baby should smell as good as she looks, darnit, HELP:laugh: |
Baking soda is highly akaline and I'm not sure it would be safe, it could be irritating to the skin. Are you sure the smell is coming from the beard, not ears or mouth? I've also read that yeast type infections can be smelly. Maybe a conditioner that smells good, rubbed on, and rinced out would be safer. Is her beard long, and is it possible that food products are getting in, and rotting? Why do you think the angel eyes helped, what's it suppose to do? |
Thanks, I won't attempt the baking soda then. I don't want to do anything that would hurt my baby girl! The smelly face thing is an ongoing issue with her, and it was much much less smelly when she was on Angels Eyes, so I believe that it's her tears. She tears a lot, Izzy doesn't. I might put just Luna back on it, I dunno:confused: I know the ear smell, this isn't it, and her beard is fairly short as they are both kept in a puppy cut. The only thing she eats that could be sticking in there would be cottage cheese for dinner. I am stumped:laugh: It is MUCH better tonight as the groomer does a great job on them. I wonder if I'm just not washing good enough when she gets her in between baths? I'm so afraid I'm going to get water up her nose, that I am probably a little TOO careful there:o Anyway, thanks for tossing around ideas with me:laugh: |
I don't know a lot about Angel Eyes, does it have some kind of antibotic in it? I thought you would get more answers than you did. Maybe what ever was in the Angel Eyes was helping with some sort of infection or bateria problem. I never notice an odor coming from this area on Joey. |
Zoe's muzzle used to be smelly when I had it long (her nick name was wet socks because that is what it smelled like lol) but now I keep her muzzle trimmed and I have no more smelly problems. I think it was because she would get her muzzle hair wet all the time when she drank water and that combined with the saliva from licking her chops made her face smelly. Hope this helps!:p |
