Most important is a good pair of scissors that you use only for his haircuts. Ears need the top third shaved, and this can be done with one of those tiny pin-size trimmers that cost about $10.00. This is an important step, and many home groomers overlook it, but doing so can prevent moisture buildup that may lead to infections. A good nail clipper and a blood-clotting agent is another necessity, but I usually stop by the groomer for this. Obviously, bathing supplies, shampoo and conditioner are important, as well as a hair dryer, but you can use any for this on low setting. I also have a toothbrush, toothpaste and Petzlife tooth gel, that prevents tartar from forming. I think a pin brush is also important, and especially so if you are planning on having a longer coat. I found a flea comb came in handy especially when Joey was a puppy, it's a wire comb with the teeth very close together, and is very useful for cleaning the mustache, and eye area. |
