Question...first grooming? Should I shave? Abbey is 5 months old. Her hair is still pretty short and black. My question is...Is she too young to get groomed?? I have another post somewhere that is basically about how she always gets sticker burrs in her hair outside AND on top of that she is always hot bc it is 100 degrees or more here everyday. Well and not only do I just want her groomed, I want her shaved. While I wouldn't normally want to do this, I feel like I have to bc the whole burr thing is an ongoing issue and it is very painful for her. Would you reccomend shaving her?? I have found a great groomer who I trust but Abbey hates being brushed and sometimes bites me and won't hold still soooo that may also be an issue to getting her shaved so young. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! |
We had to almost shave Camden down when we got her. We rescued her and she was horribly matted and chopped up. I don't know if they shaved her so much or just used a really short clipper blade, but I think she looks adorable! If she tries to bite and is really anxious. You might try getting Rescue Remedy or homeopet. You can get drops that you can put in their mouth or water that is supposed to calm them and it's all natural. You might just want to call your vet and make sure it's ok for a puppy! |

it is OK to shave her close all over, if that is what you like, and it will keep the burrs out and the high temps of summer will be easier on your doggie too. She is your dog, and it is your choice, so go ahead if that is what you want to do. My little Cricket had a longer face and topknot, but her body is clipped very close because she has a cottony coat. She's happier, and I think she is just adorable! Win/win It certainly will not hurt your yorkie to have a close clipper cut at this age, or any age. Sue & Cricket :aimeeyork Quote:
