any groomers here??? sorry for the double post...but someone suggested I post here and I thought that was a good idea :) (if one of my posts gets deleted, please delete the one in off topic because I have added additional stuff to this post...thanks :) ) without going into a lot of detail...I am pursuing my dream of grooming...and am wondering who all here on YT has already accomplished this??? and I would love if you could share some insight..maybe some pointers, some lessons learned...and maybe what, in your opinion, is the one (or a few) tool/supply you can't live without? What kind of overhead do you have....and any idea of start up costs would be helpful too :) I have several supplies...but I just want to know what I might be looking at for starting this up. I will be starting small....concentrating on yorkies and cockers...since that is what I know best. I will be taking some classes very soon...but I really think I want to keep it small and not over-do it. so, what words of wisdom do you have for me??? |
I know that suencricket2 is... maybe you should pm her??? GOOD LUCK! Quote:

teach yourself If you want to really learn, and are going to concentrate on the two breeds to begin with, I suggest my grooming DVD's. I have been a groomer for 17+ years. I have taught several student groomer through my DVD series, and now they have been successful groomers for several years too. It is easy to learn if you have the right tools and the right lessons. I think you will be happily surprised at how easy it is once you learn from my DVD's. If you want to try it, I will honor my discount for you. Two DVD's for $50.00 and free shipping. This would regularly cost you over $80.00 any other time. Several members here have them, and are quite happy with them. Let me know if you are interested. Sue & Cricket :aimeeyork Quote:

I have Sue's yorkie grooming dvd and would highly recommend starting with that too. It's very simple but detailed and clear enough, you're not left with many questions....just got to practice to get better:D Also, I know that YorkieRose (Pat) on here has been a groomer too for years. She might have some suggestions for you too. |
DVD purchase I just rec'd Sue's Yorkie DVD, viewed it and I am very, very please with it. A very good purchase. It is so informative of every aspect of the grooming process and little tricks for easier clipping. Also very nice to know exactly what type of equipment is actually needed. Not as much as I had thought. GOOD JOB SUE!!! |
I have been grooming for almost 30 years and the very best book I have found is " Notes from the Grooming Table" All you need to know is how to use your tools and read . If you have any questions feel free to call any time. Debbie Ray Best Friends Pet Salon Salem Oregon |
