Eye hair help.. 1 Attachment(s) I need some help with the hair around Tessa's eyes. I want to grow it out and I put it up in a topknot but it is the hairs on the muzzle that I have problems with:eek: It seems to poke in her eyes all the time and I can't seem to get it to lay flat?!? I have heard about shaving the muzzle just below the eyes but not sure if I really want to do that. Does anyone have this problem or suggestions on how to deal with it? I have posted a close up of Tessa so you can see what I mean. |
You know, it really seems like this is just an akward stage they all go through. I would wait it out and weither put an additional rubber band to hold the hairs really short down lower than the main topknot, or use a mild styling gel to keep them down. I wouldn't shave. Quote:

I am really hoping it is just a stage but it just seems like it is lasting forever.;);) Her eyes are constantly watering because of the hair. I see all the pics of other pups with really nice topknots and their eyes are so sparkly! I wish I could see Tessa's eyes! I really don't want to shave it. |
Anyone else out there that can advise me? |
There was a recent thread on this, and someone suggested Pet Silk topknot gel. I ordered some and am very pleased with it. I just recently started letting that hair grow, and I was having a real problem with it going in his eyes. Someone also suggested Vaseline, and it works pretty good, but not as good as the Pet Silk topknot gel. The main thing is to use something that won't hurt their eyes. |

I just wet the hair with a wet paper towel and comb it down with a flea comb. That seems to do the trick. By the time the hair dries, it stays down. |
You can also get some of those tiny clips they have at walmart in the kids hair accessory department. I find those help too :) |

I Can Help I made a video "How to Groom Your Pet Yorkie at Home". It is 2 hours, 2 minutes long. It explains in very detailed, simple to understand, common sense ways to care for your yorkies coat at home. It is made for the at home pet owner who knows nothing about grooming. It covers nail trimming, foot pad shaving, ear hair plucking and ear canal cleaning, how to trim out the eye corners between the eyes, how to clip the sanitary area, how to tip the ears. I show 3 different hair styles for the body (long to the floor "traditional" look, puppy cut, and schnauzer type "personality" clip) and a few different head styles. How to put up the top knot, and a newer style of topknot that will really stay in, and a rounded cute "teddybear" face and head style. I show how to empty the anal glands, and show the bathing and drying. I explain all about using the grooming equipment properly, what to buy, where the groomers shop for the lowest prices around. I stress common sense and safety. THIS IS NOT FOR SHOW DOGS OR PROFESSIONAL GROOMERS. I have been a professional groomer for 17+ years now. I show a few of the important things over and over so you can see from different angles. I use 3 different yorkie models. My DVD's have chapters so you can skip to what you need to see. I have them on my yorkie website (see signature below) and I will give Yorkie Talk members a $10.00 off discount for a limited time. The website price is $39.95 + $3.50 shipping. Members here will get it for a total of $33.45 which includes the shipping fee. I accept pay pal and US POST OFFICE money orders. Feel free to PM me if you are interested. The discount is for a LIMITED TIME ONLY as long as my current supply lasts. Sue& Cricket :aimeeyork Quote:
