Triming Show Yorkies Paws I'm needing to know how each of you "Show Breeders" trim your Show Yorkies Paws. I do keep their paw pads trimmed in between but that's not what I need help on, it's from where their coat on their legs is getting floor length that I need help on. Hope this makes sense. My Sofie & Weezies coat around their paws is really getting to long as when they pee on their puppy pad their coat from their paws gets wet also. Do you just trim around in a circle around their paws to shape their paws up? Or do you trim down their legs also??? Or how do you do it?? If anyone has any hints on this please could you pass them my way??? Hope each of you have a great day. :) Lee |
My worst nightmares! Feet and top knots!!!!!!! I scissor the feet after they are completely groomed out. I comb the hair straight down the leg to the floor. I separate any hair that is not to be trimmed. I trim to the floor level and make a circle around the foot. I am not very good at explaining this, its easier to learn by watching it done. I also do this about 2 weeks before a show that way some hair will grow and cover any mistakes I have made. |
I clipped the hairs at the bottom of the feet, between her pads. Then I scissor her hair around her feet - while they are standing on the table - scissor around the foot - curve. There is a great video out there by == Welcome to Sweetyblue Video == in regards to grooming, another on handling, etc... T. |
Girls I thought I'd let you both know I trimmed Sofies paws, I think they look pretty good. I'll have to take photos of them. Now I just have to get Weezies, Teddys and Galahads done lol. Sages coat is so slow growing that at 13 Months old hers doesn't even need trimmed wish I could say that about Sofies' and Weezies' as they aren't even 1 yet. It won't be long before I need help on the topknots lol. I Never done any. I wanted to thank you both for all your help and you did explain it good so I kind knew what you both ment. Hugs :) Lee |
