Thinking about a Schnauzer cut...has anyone done it? It is so hot here! Just at the beginning of summer it has already been 104 degrees. Sassy lays on the tile and the lineoleum to keep cooler. We do have air-conditioning but when it gets up in the hundreds, it is sometimes 80 degrees in here and the air runs and runs and runs. I have been thinking about getting her a Schnauzer cut to get the hair off her back. Soooo.....I am wondering if anyone else has done this. If you have, may I see photos? I want my baby to be more comfortable. I just don't want to end up sad and sorry. Thanks bunches! :) |
2 Attachment(s) I cut my big boy Booboo in a Schnauzer cut!! I think it came out really cute!! It was my first time though, so I'm sure the next time will be better!! The first one is him before, shaggy boy! And then after! |
I guess it is kinda hard to tell from the photo but the hair on his back is about 3/4" and his leg hair is long!! He looks cute in person!:p |
1 Attachment(s) This is a picture of Buffy after her bath and cut....sorry this is the only picture that shows the cut on the body. I'll try to look for one of her standing up. I have to keep her in this cut all summer or she gets too hot at night and can not sleep , and if I have the air on all the time she gets a cold. |
Sorry I don't have any pictures but I usually get Dougal Schanauzered for summer. it's the full monty shaved back and neck, and v short on his head, little old man eyebrows and beard, and about an inch of hair on his belly and slightly less than that on his legs. Because Dougal is probably closer to mini schnauzer size than yorkie size everyone asked if he was a schnauzer -- has anyone ever seen a black and tan schnauzer? I thought he looked exceptionally dapper and he loved being a nekky pup. |
A Schnauzer cut is beautiful when a yorkie have a straight back , if not forget it. |
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...auzer-cut.html I started this thread awhile back and some yters posted pictures of Schnauzer cuts. |
Yay for my "NEW GROOMER"/I look handsome - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community Buddy sported it for almost a year then I got rid of the skirt and let the head, legs, tail and chest get longer. That is what he sports today. Maybe over the winter we'll let his back grow again. |
i always do this cut! and i do it myself it is really easy and i keep his top knot in and beard and leggins and skirt. it is really cute!!! which reminds me i need to give him another trim!!! anyway it does look really cute try it and see if you like it. i love it!!! remember if you dont like it. it will always grow back! |

MY yorkie grooming DVD shows you a safe and easy way to do this clip. Check it out on my website, or PM me about it. It is 122 minutes long, shows a few different body and head styles. I stress common sense and safety. Show you what tools you need, where to buy them and how to safely use them. Very detailed. Lots of satisfied members here who have it. Shnauzer cut Ok I am very new to this...I tried to upload pictures of Chloe's shnauzer cut this morning and it did not work...I just made an album that has pictures of her new cut...I love it!!!! Only thing that shocked me at first was her ears...They look HUGE...the groomer cut all the hair off her ears instead of tipping them like I asked...I live in South GA and its already hot...After a few days with her new cut I think I almost like her ears like this...She looks like a snorkie...lol...people have asked me what kind of dog is this...her back is short with a very short fringe (skirt) her legs are featherd...the top of her head is very short..I think I am going to keep her cut like this. I have no clue how to post a link to my album on here..I need to do a little more reading...I hope you can find my album and look at her photos. Take care AlisaC New to this site and already loving it!:animal-pa |

My Otis is kind of in a Schnauzer cut, but not on purpose!! It's because that's as far as he lets me get with grooming!!!!! |
you can do it! If you want to groom her yourself, I made a great yorkie grooming video: "How to Groom Your Pet Yorkie at Home". It is 2 hours, 2 minutes long. It explains in very detailed, simple to understand, common sense ways to care for your yorkies coat at home. It is made for the at home pet owner who knows nothing about grooming. It covers nail trimming, foot pad shaving, ear hair plucking and ear canal cleaning, how to trim out the eye corners between the eyes, how to clip the sanitary area, how to tip the ears. I show 3 different hair styles for the body (long to the floor "traditional" look, puppy cut, and schnauzer type "personality" clip) and a few different head styles. How to put up the top knot, and a newer style of topknot that will really stay in, and a rounded cute "teddybear" face and head style. I show how to empty the anal glands, and show the bathing and drying. I explain all about using the grooming equipment properly, what to buy, where the groomers shop for the lowest prices around. I stress common sense and safety. THIS IS NOT FOR SHOW DOGS OR PROFESSIONAL GROOMERS. I have been a professional groomer for 17+ years now. I show a few of the important things over and over so you can see from different angles. I use 3 different yorkie models. My DVD's have chapters so you can skip to what you need to see. I have them on my yorkie website (see signature below) and I will give Yorkie Talk members a $10.00 off discount for a limited time. The website price is $39.95 + $3.50 shipping. Members here will get it for a total of $33.45 which includes the shipping fee. I accept pay pal and US POST OFFICE money orders. Feel free to PM me if you are interested. The discount is for a LIMITED TIME ONLY as long as my current supply lasts. Sue& Cricket :aimeeyork Quote:
