Not All Yorkies Are Hard To Groom I groomed a sweet new Yorkie client today. Not all Yorkies are wiggly or difficult. I am mobile and the dog got a trim, bath, the works all in about 45mins. She was a perfect angel. I am a long time professional groomer, but not a magician, hehe. It is so nice to have a good cute little dog to groom. I LOVE Yorkies! |
Seems Like you have lots of difficult dogs to groom, Well I love :aimeeyorkYorkies too.. [F]Happy FurMommy's Day!! [F]:2hearts2:I Love My Well Behaved When Groomed Furbabies, :aimeeyorkNygee, :aimeeyorkGizmo & :aimeeyorkGypsy!!:2hearts2: |
I worry about Hot Rod sometimes at the groomers but the last time they said that he was so cooperative. He sat still and closed his eyes for them when they were trimming his hair on his face. I still get anxious for him when he goes though.:) |
I think it's mainly when they are puppies they are wiggly, if you start early and get them use to it, they learn to at least tolerate it; and I swear Joey enjoys being pampered. Clipping toenails is another thing. He goes to groomer for that. |
My Pixie is a breeze to groom. I can brush her teeth all the way in the back and she doesn't move at all. My other 2 aren't as good. The puppy is really hard to groom right now even though they get groomed every night, |
grooming I can count on one hand the difficult Yorkies I have had to groom in 35 yrs...most all became my good friends and a welcome visit in my work day. |
I meant Many groomers I know claim Yorkies are difficult to groom. I have had many over the years and like to groom them. Rarely a problem for me. One on my website was awful his first few times then all ofg a sudden he bacame good. |

A testament of excellent technique. You Go Girl!!!!! |
I groom mostly yorkies and for the most part 99 percent of them are angels |
My boys are getting easier for me to groom all the time. They stay still for me, and I give treats as we go. They both enjoy being brushed now. I want to cut Jake's hair soon for the summer. I think I'm getting more comfortable and so are they. I'm really enjoying it!:) |
I agree! :) I groom my two babies myself as well as my mom's Yorkie, Kenzi, and all three of them are a dream to groom....EXCEPT my male when it comes to trimming his nails  Everything else is easy breezy though! :D |
Chrissy With soooo many members here I knew I couldn't be the only professional groomer. I only groom dogs up to 35lbs, so I do see a lot of good little Yorkies. |

I am far from a professional groomer. I'm not even an amateur!:D I've just done a lot of research online and watched grooming videos so that I could learn how to groom my boys' hair. They both hated it at first, but now they are really good. I start with a massage first to get them relaxed. Then, I bathe them, dry them and brush them, and it's not hard at all. I'm a little nervous cutting Jake's hair, but I'm getting better all the time. It takes a lot of time, PATIENCE and practice. Mine are so used to it, they actually seem to enjoy it now. Especially the massages!:) (Oh, and the treats!) |
