I am so upset and pissed off Layla used to be so good when i did her nails. Even with the dremmel, she didn't LIKE it, but she put up with it... i went away for a week... now i can't even get close to her with it. She squirms and yelps and I'm trying so hard to hold onto her foot I'm worried she will twist and I'll break her leg or something. Well since they didn't get done while i was gone (before i left i had them a nice length, and ASKED that they get done... didn't happen) they are just too long now. I have no option but to bring her to the vet and get them to trim them, which pisses me off because I know they will end up bleeding. She hates going to the vet period and now she is going to go there and they are going to hurt her (not intentionally, i know) i'm just so upset... i could cry. I honestly thought i could get this under control, sorry... just needed to vent... |
HUGS for you Marci! I know how you feel, sometimes you just have to vent and get it out!!!! I hope Layla does well at the vet!!!! |
can anyone think of an alternative to the vet?? anything maybe i haven't tried? I even tried to just use a nail file tonight.. she wouldn't have it.... Just thinking of having to bring her there to have them cut makes me sick to my stomach... |
I think when you have an almost perfect fur-kid, and things are always going along just right, it's even harder to accept when things are totally out of sinc. I've had fosters that had nails so long they were curled under and into the pads. It took a few months of trimming but they ended up just fine. Maybe you could re-train layla to accept the nail clipping again by making it fun and with treats. See is she then would be ok with a very coarse emery board to just file on them each week after a bath. That's what I do because I'm too afraid of cutting the quick with the clipper. Warm hugs to you. Cheer up and just give your baby a big hug and kiss. ;) |

Ever since i started with the dremmel, i've had a bag of treats next to me... she just eats it.. and keeps on squirming and yelping. |

My little Jake hates having his nails trimmed. I've been waiting until he's a little tired and I start out giving him a massage. He gets all nice and relaxed and is much more cooperative. He LOVES massages! I also massage his feet and toes. I read somewhere that the more you touch their feet and toes, the more relaxed they are about trimmings, and it does seem to work.:) |
Did you remember to remove her battery pack? Wouldn't that be nice? |
