Evie's ears are half/half Ok I know this has been asked NUMEROUS of times.. but Evie's ears just now kind of "flapped" her right one stands up ALMOST and her left I noticed statred flopping more and more! Is is because she has long ears? Ok she is teething.. but all her teeth are almost in.. should I start taping her ears now?? or should I still wait a little?? She turned 5 months on the 19th of April... Also, is it mandatory to trim the ears?? or can I leave the hair? |
Sometimes they flop back down when they're teething and yes...until they stand entirely it's best to keep the ear hair trimmed. |

Good Morning, If she is teething they will go up and down. If you want her ears to stand you should trim them very very often. The hair on the ears tends to weight them down. Roni |
now should I just trim them to get the excess hair off or completely shave them? |

Ahhhh .... teething is cruddy! Toto needed a baby bib!! :) Their little ears sometimes tend to droop a little when they are teething. Toto's breeder told me to always keep her little ears trimmed very short 1/3 of the way down front and back. I would guess that when teething is over, they would stay up. Good luck and hope teething goes well. :p |
what do you mean with Peanuts? I'm going to have a tough time with that! Evie's so fidgety! |

Wahl 8685 Peanut trimmer. by Wahl, Clippers-Human at Goodman's Small Appliance & Housewares Hope that helps. Roni |
Edith - If you want them to stand I would suggest shaving the whole ear on the outside AND the inside and tape them. Leave them taped for 24 hours and then let them down to give a break and then re-do if still needed. I'd love to see a pic of what they are doing before you do though! :) |

These are the best pictures (I took them yesterday) Notice how in some her left one is floppy.. but in some they're straight? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-yorkie-pictures/128051-what-do-you-always-do-there.html#post1954818 |

Thanks |
So far I've only had to tape one of my pups and what I did was leave it taped for 24 hours then let it out and if it needed it retape again after a few hour break. She's adorable :) I think if you shaved her ears you might not even have to tape. She has lots of hair on her ears! :p its cute!!!! Quote:

It could be both reasons.... I know Kibble has lost lots of teeth. His ears are still up as of now. |

McKenzie's ear tips are flopping right now and they look so cute! You could just leave them and see what happens :) |
ok I shaved Evie's ears yesterday.. but I don't know how to fan them.. Am I supposed to use scissors? or just hold the hair between my fingers and use the cutter? Also, I kept the blade with the 3mm piece.. just in case (I didn't want to cut her or anything)... The outside of her ears look good.. but the inside seems still a little long... Should I remove the piece and just cut the inside with the blade itself? (extended, of course) |
Yep shave them if you want up ear's ! |

can I just shave the inside.. and wait a couple of weeks? and If that doesn't help.. THEN shave the outside completely?:( Her ears already look soo much smaller since I shaved them.. and if you noticed.. she has BIG beautiful ears:) (I love her big ears) |
