stringy hair Within one or two days after bathing, Porsche's hair starts looking stringy, even after brushing. I'll brush her, within 5 minutes it's stringy again. I use an aloe soapless shampoo from the vet because of itchy skin. I use a strawberry conditioner because of the tangles. Then I use a pro spray to help with hair breakage because Porsche's hair is longer. I also use a hair dryer with a brush. Any suggestions for this stringy problem????:confused: |
It could be the shampoo/conditioner you are using or maybe even the spray (spray oil to help stop breakage can be a bit heavy). With my boys coat on show days I dont use a conditioner but after a few minutes of him walking in the ring I notice the ends look stringy. After exploring literally everything my breeder told me it was just his puppy coat (different texture than his adult silk coat) that was causing it. Now that his puppy coat is almost completely grown out and I am beginning to trim the ends it seems to be making a huge difference. Maybe this same thing is happening to her? Ps. For itchy skin I would increase her fatty acid intake. Fish oil or a product called K9 Show Stopper work wonders on the skin and coat. Good luck with your baby's coat! |

Show Stopper is a suppliment that you add to the food daily. It is the consistency of brown sugar and my dogs just go crazy over it. I get it from K9 Show Stopper - Omega Dog - Animal Naturals I have a Doberman (and a Doberman meetup group with a lot of members) so I am able to order it in bluk for a tremendous discount. Your best option is to get it from a vendor at a dog show if there are any near by because the shipping is a bit steep. A 4lb container will probably last you 6mos if not longer. Good luck and let me know how it goes! |
