it's a ph issue. that's why we should use dog shampoo. |
my groomer said specifically NOT to use Pantene because of a specific ingredient that would dry out their skin and coat but I can't remember which ingredient. |
My Breeder has shown her yorkies at Crufts and has been showing/breeding for 45 years, she told me that she uses Pantene conditioner on her yorkies..they all have fantastic shiny coats..so I use it too on Pixie..her skin seems fine so far. |
I have used it for years on my dogs. it makes their little coats look great. The only one I don't use the conditioner on, is my show girl. She has special conditions but i do use the Classic Clean pantene shampo on her to get the show products out. |
Sooooo dog shampoo & Pantene conditioner?? Sounds good to me!! Ha Ha I did it today & Maxx smells wonderful & feels OH so soft!!! I love it!!! So now can someone recommend a good shampoo for him?? He is 12 weeks, so not sure if he still needs a puppy shampoo. Right now we have Hartz puppy, but I know Hartz isn't the highest quality!! I would like something tearless, that smells good & is good for his coat :0) He is quite fluffy!! Ha Ha Thank you guys!!! :D |

If you happen to remember, let me know!!! Maybe they have taken out since then, since so many people seem to use it?? I def don't want to dry him out though, so please let me know if you remember, thanks!!! :animal-pa |
I use Pantene Ice Shine on mine. Once a week, we dont seem to have any issues. I also blow dry, brush and then spray my cologne "Drakkar" on him. This last about a week then time to do it all over again. Mostly because he hate's leaving his hair up and it gets in his mouth and brush's against his wet nose. Guess this is the price you pay having a long haired yorkie. |
when i first got bella i used pantene because i love the smell...then she started to flake and scratch we just cant use it |
once in a while is OK to use Pantene shampoo on a dog. I use it in my grooming salon and onn my own dogs about every 4-5th shampooing, just to strip the built up product off of their coats. I do not recommend it as the only shampoo you use. It is made for human Ph levels and not for the dog's Ph levels. It can cause dry skin, rash, and itching. All human grade creme rinse's have a wax base and can clog a dogs pores. I do not use creme rinse on every dog. If they already have dry skin it will make it much worse. If they need a little conditioner, then I dilute it about 50-75% before using it. I do like to change up on shampoos and products (but all the same name brand) as the coat "gets used to it" and it does not do the same good things when it is used over and over. In my salon I use the same company's products because they are all natural and good for the pets, the groomer and the environment. They are made in the USA too, (another thing I like to do in my shop) by a company called "E-Z-Groom". I have been using their products for nearly 17 years. I have strayed and tried others, but always came back to them. www.ez-groom.com or 1-800-777-5899. I highly recommend their grooming products. When I showed my dogs, I never went into the ring with out their finishing sprays, anti-stat sprays and their best stuff "ez-glide" at my ringside table. Tell them you are a groomer, they will send you a huge sample pack for a low introductory fee. Well worth it for the large size bottles of shampoo, groomng products, cologne...all kinds of groomng products. Ask for "Suzie" and tell her that Sue from Hot Diggity Dogs sent you. I use Johnson's baby shampoo on their little faces and use Pantene and a oatmeal shampoo on the body. I love the way Pantene makes their coats so easy to groom.... I do change shampoos but always go back to Pantene. I too, put a little Drakar or Shalimar behind their ears to make them smell "beautiful".... spoiled pups..... |
I use the Pantene Ice Shine Conditioner after I use the Minksheen shampoo. Toby has a lovely coat!!! |
be careful if you have a yorkie with alergy issues. I used panteen conditioner for a few months, and loved the way their hair combs and shines, but I have two with alergy issues, one got flaky sores and had some yeast in it. Just keep an eye out, Id hate any of you to go thru the last bout we had with yeast sores. |
