Bloody Nails!!!!! I was clipping Koda's nails and just as I clamped down he moved! I nicked his vein! I feel so BAD! :( But being an ex-rabbit breeder, and having clipped many nails before, I dunked his paw in flour and just held him for a couple minutes and voila! no more bleeding. but what i was wondering is if anyone else has another way to stop the bleeding? |
My clipper came with a septic powder. I'm still too chicken to use them. |
I always keep septic powder on hand as well, never know when one of these wiggly butts are gonna move at the last minute. |
Yep, flour and cornstarch are what we use here. |
I still have the bottle of powder that came w/ our nail clippers. I once cut Mojo's a little too short...I just do a little at a time, but even with that, I cut a little too much..he didn't even notice it though! Whew! |
I use "Dionne" Blood Stop Powder, it is great I put a little in the cap and stick their nail on it and it stops it in a second. I keep their nail in it for about 2 or 3minutes just to make sure it's on there good and I don't wash it off and yes they lick it and it doesn't hurt them. Teddys' nail came all the way off last Summer and it was bleeding bad & I used this blood stop and it stopped it in a heart beat. I also cut Weezies' ear (Trimming it) and used it on it and stopped it too. The bottle last forever for us I've had it for like 4 years now. Hope this helps U some :) |
I've clipped one of Ruby's too short once and used styptic powder I had on hand just in case of emergency. The flour is a good idea though, if you don't have the powder. |
