Help!! He's going crazy! Our little guy Windsor is 14 weeks old. I just tried to brush him and before I could run the brush through his coat he went CRAZY...biting, barking, and snapping. There was no matting on his back where I was going to brush, I really just wanted to introduce him to the brush. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to better handle this? Thanks! |
At 12 weeks, when I got him, I kept Maxwell's brush in with his toys in his toy basket. I'd let him play with it, take it out even chew on it a bit. Now he's over a year old and he loves being brushed. |
:welcome4: to YT! You may want to start w/ just letting him smell and play and lick on his brush/comb....then gradually work your way to using it...even if it is just a little at a time. You can also incorporate a training treat while brushing etc. I also use a spray conditioner when I comb/brush to help w/ any tangles. It may take awhile...just like anything else...nail clippings, etc. Give it time. LilyGrace does not like the scissors...so, I like her sniff and lick them (closed), etc - give small treats (we like Yorkie Yummies), etc. She is coming around. |
