I'm probably not the one to answer you because I'm just learning, however, I keep Buddy cut very short on the body. I use 1/4" comb so if you wanted 1" left I would assume you would use the 1" comb. I keep his legs long and I don't use the clipper at all. I use scissors. I hope someone else can help you because I'm not sure I'm correct. I'm not even sure you would use a clipper on that length but the combs do come that long. Hmmmmmm I would like to know also. |

Anyone else?:) |
Combs come in increments of 1/4". Most go up to 1&1/4", but Laube makes extra long combs that cut up to 2". How long you want her coat is a personal preference. I usually cut Lady's with a 1" comb, but then don't clip her for months so it gets to be about three inches or so before I clip her again. |
Well I used the 1 in comb... and decided to do it a little bit shorter... and Yikes did I mess up :( ... it will grow back though. It shorter than I wanted oh well! |
sometimes no comb... just use the scissors for the longer styles of the puppy cut. I am a groomer for 17+ years. I think you might do better with scissors alone, but you might need instructions for that. Clippers cannot do everything. The longer combs (Laube 1 1/4") might leave the coat looking very choppy. As a groomer we use a clippers beofre the bath for a "rough cut" then scissor after washing and blow drying. I do not think I can advertise on this thread. See website for instructional videos, or check other forums here for grooming DVD's Sue & Cricket |
Do you sell your dvds on ebay? I bought one that was awesome and there was a small yorkie named Cricket in it! I actually bought it awhile ago... but was still to scared to actually do it myself... until now... :) Quote:
