PetsMart Puppy Package HI All, what are your thoughts on taking my pup to petsmart for her first grooming? |
I dont know?? There is another thread where a Petsmart "groomer" bruised up a Yorkie pretty bad. If you do, make sure you stay and watch your puppy through the windows. I do all my own grooming. Its easier on me and less stressful on the dogs. Its easy to do and learn and its cheaper in the long run to do it yourself. |
I take Lily to Petsmart. I really liked one of the groomers and she is the only one that does Lily. I also do the express service so I can wait and see what is going on through the window in the store. I got lucky though, I have heard a lot of terrible stories about groomers at Petsmart but I think it all depends on the store and the groomers there. Plus, I can't find any other place that gets her done in about an hour. |
Rusty's first grooming was with Petsmart. I do not know what the groomer did to him, but he has not liked any groomers since. I groom him at home myself and he still does not like it and he is 3 years old now. He detests getting his nails clipped or his face cleaned. Before I took him to Petsmart, it never bothered him to be brushed or his nails handled. All I can imagine is the groomer had no experience with a teeny tiny puppy and made him hate grooming. That's just my experience though. Dogs never forget though. I do know that! |
My experience was not good but I know there are others who have had no problems and are happy with them... |
Dior and Diezel have been to Petsmart for grooming a few times. I was disappointed with the length of time they were there and the results. If u do decide to take your baby, stick around. |
I personally tried to stay away from Petsmart and other "commercial" places like that. I've read soooo many horror stories (some of which you'll find on this site) and I just couldnt do it. Also, they wont allow you to stay and watch... and for Meka's first time, I wasnt secure just leaving her somewhere for 3 hrs  which is what I loved about the groomer I found. She had no problems allowing me to sit at watch the first time she cut Meka  Not to mention, it takes her 1 hour to wash and cut Meka... So whats up with Petsmart and 3 HOURS? However, if thats your preference...my only advise would be to do a little research on the groomers they'll have available. Meaning, I would at the least see who has the most/longest experience and if they're certified... imo I think those places tend to hire in-experienced, younger folks...which is why there has been so many bad experiences... :) |
