About $50 per dog (no matter how much or little hair is taken off).

I pay $35 for Gracie to get the works done....

I think that is a pretty good rate for the area I live in..

I just paid 40 with tip to have Lola done. She's my shih tzu and had some minor matting on the top of her rump from rolling in the snow. I was not happy. I picked her up, and she was bald all over her body and legs. They said "sorry, we had to go so short, if we would have brushed her it would have tramatized her and broken some of the hair anyways" :rolleyes: Lola is the best when it comes to brushing. I just had a busy couple of weeks and figured I could have someone else do it, and maybe trim her up a little. I was crushed. She has the most beautiful coat. :(

She LOVED the snow, I mean loved it so much. I had to force her to come in after potty. Now she shivers so much, even with her sweater on. :(

The first place I went to $45 but the lady pissed me off by not following my instructions about cutting my baby's hair. She made him look like TJ Cloutier (poker player). The place I take him now I pay $30 (most people tip $5-10)and they are open M-Sun. The lady's English isn't so great but they are very nice there. They also have a pet hotel ($20/day).

I have tried about 3 groomers. First and second groomer in Toronto I have to pay $75 and the other one $50. First one, we had to leave him there for 4 hours I wasn't pleased and the fact that he hates wearing a bandana and she forced one on him. Second one was rough with him. The third one was what I thought a good groomer. She charges $40 but the second trip we went there, I decided I had enough. Now I do my own grooming. I am still practising. It might not look as professional as the groomer but it will improve over time I am sure. The most important thing is, he is happy and not traumatized.

I just had karleigh & joey done and it cost me 57.00:) I dont mind paying as long as they do as asked;) 4 more to go:p

I would be crushed if someone did this to my puppy. For that reason, I do it myself. If I mess up, I am the only one to blame.

We do it ourselves now, but when I had it done it was 90$ for the two of them.

The last time I took Gypsy it was 38.00 but the have charged me more at other times. Not sure why the difference did not think to ask, duh! She is going back on Sunday so I hope it is only 38.00.

Ziggy's haircut looks great:D I don't pay for grooming but the price, when I use to pay for Tobey it was like $35-50 bucks depending on where I would go. Then my boyfriend decided he wanted to do it, the first time didn't come out right but now he has it down. I tell him to start a business :D

OMG!!!! THAT'S terrible! The most horrible haircut I've seen and I have given my own Lhasa some pretty bad ones! But mine didn't cost anything. I hope, you're not going back to that groomer. They should be paying YOU for damages!

I have a Mobile Groomer, she comes every 6 weeks, $50 plus a tip, she does it all with in an hour or less.

Hi,

I'm new to the boards and this is my first time posting. I've enjoyed all the pics and post.

I'm having a really tough time with groomers doing a good job. IF I find a good one, they soon get sloppy. I am so put out with spending anywhere between $35-$40 every six weeks for a sloppy job. He has the Teddy Bear cut and half the time I have to either shape up his face, trim at least two of his paws or trim someplace else. I live in the Charlotte, NC area and any tips is greatly appreciated.

I pay $35 to have A.J groomed. It's nice to see that it seems to be the average. I was wondering if maybe I was paying more since it's the only place in town.

I took Brooke to a new groomer that my vet recommended and I didn't even ask how much it was. She has a long coat and I just wanted a trim. I should have known when I dropped her off and they said, "Is Brooke ready for her SPA day?" When I picked her up she looked cute but about the same as when I wash her and trim her and she had a cheap bow in her hair. Then they said it's $60!! I hope she got a whirlpool bath and a foot massage for that price!! But it is California!

I use to be a cosmetologist also and it's a whole different ballgame when grooming a yorkie. :( But I'm still working on it some. I trimmed his face last week and it looks better than the last time he was groomed. Deep down I think that might have been the last time. He's on phenobarbital now and as most of you know one of the side effects is extreme thirst. At some point I may have to take him in but not if I can help it. It's back to the vet (3 wks.) for him today plus he has to have all shots. My poor baby!

I must have missed it, what is wrong with your baby?
Post a picture of his face, I don't like all of that long hair, have to wash her face everytime she eats.

He had 2 seizures 2 weeks apart at almost the same time. One was at 5 am., the other at 4:30. With the first one, he fell off the end of the bed before I could get to him. Scared us to death and I really thought he was dying. The vet put him on phenobarbital and so far he hasn't had another one. By searching YT, I learned about milk thistle and now he's on Marin.

Although I like the long hair look I prefer the shorter. We do the same as you, wash his face every time he eats. I'll try to get a picture of his face. Every time I pick up the camera, he turns his head. :D

I just uploaded another picture of Scootie but it's still not to my liking. How do you guys get such good close ups? Must be my camera. It's only 4.0 and for my birthday I'm asking for a better one. Another birthday? Yikes!:eek:

Guess I take so many pictures when she sees the camera she just starts posing for me. My camera is a 7.1 megapixels.

Thank you very much. I can't believe how fast time flies after you retire. I thought the days would really drag by. I guess Scooter and I are just having too much fun! :D

I've paid $35-45 a couple of times and that was enough!! So, now I do it myself. It is always a work in progress to do better. LOL!!!

I charge anywhere from 33 to 42 or more if you want the add ons or I have a ton of dematting to do.
Alot of my yorkies come in on a set schedule and most of the time are in good shape.
