Smelly Puppy I just got a male yorkie. He is really cute but smells horrible. I have tried everything from bathing him myself, to the groomers, dog powder, and dog cologne. His body smells fine it is his head area that smells horrible. I don't know what to do. I am at my last straw and I don't think I can keep a dog that smells this bad but my daughter is so attached. Any suggestions??? |
Hi and welcome to yt, have you had him checked by your vet to make sure he dont have any infections going on ? He might have a ear infection. |
Definatley sounds like a medical issue, The vet should able to help you. |
new pup! WELCOME to YT you'll love it here.and for your little pup it sounds like an ear infection and he will have to be treated by a vet.IT is not advisable to buy any over the counter products.BEST wishes and can't wait to see pics. |
Definitely sounds like an ear infection. The vets will be able to treat the ears and then you can just keep him clean and fresh. A little stinkiness is not a good reason to get rid of him :D |

The groomer should have picked up on that, but a vet definitely will and there is medication for that. (Mometamax) However, it could also be the food sticking to the facial hair. So check that out also. How old is your dog and how long have you had him? |

My puppy is 4 months old and he weighs 2 pounds. He will be around 3 pounds full grown. I got him about 4 days ago it was an early christmas present for my daughter! |
Check in his mouth to see if he has baby teeth that are allowing food to get stuck in between the crevices. That can make them stink really bad. I would talk to your vet about it to be sure he is OK and nothing medically wrong. I have been told if it is an amonia smell that there may be Kidney problems so if nothing else prehaps a blood panel could help to tell what you are dealing with. Deana Prestigeous |
When I bought Peanut Home.He smelled like sour milk. Took him to vet found out he had coccdia . Vet gave meds then he was Ok. |
