Does anyone have this for nails?? I saw this avertised and was wondering if anyone has it and if so how do you like it?? http://peticure.com/index.html |
I don't have this, but I do have a doggie dremmel. Mine is battery operated and it works well, but I think I'm ordering this one as I like the way the nail fits inside. You do need to be careful of fur on the paws when you use a dremmel (so it doesn't get caught and wound up), but someone once suggested putting the nails through a pantyhose to pull back the fur. |
I also have the pet dremmel, but it's one of the heavier ones and I don't like it. I'm still not sure how the peticure keeps from going into the quick?? Anyone else figure it out? |
I'm to chicken to try to do my guys nails, so I just pay the groomer to keep them neat and clean. |

I'll be interested to hear about it too. Max hates having his nails done (I'm sure with good reason), but they do have to be done! And I don't like it when his nails are too long and he leans on me and scratches my legs all the way down, LOL.....Plus, I believe that if you keep their nails shorter, the quick doesn't grow out so far to the end of the nail. At least thats' what I found with my parrots; if I kept their nails short, it wasn't a problem clipping them; if they got too long, the quick grew out further and I risked nicking it, which I hated (and they hated even more I'm sure:( ). It would be nice to at least be able to keep his nails trimmed back a little in between grooming appts! |
YES...PLEASE let us all know how these work! They look AMAZING!!! I would love to see how the work! I want them!!! I would still be afraid of "sanding" too far and causing bleeding...course, w/ clippers, I have never cut too far.....but those jagged edges...I hate that!!! |
I want that. I spend sooo much at the vets having them trim my dogs nails (((bad experiences at petsmart, so I would rather spend more at the vets))). I would really like to hear your experience when you get this, it would really save me money. |
I am anxious to know if it works too. I started a thread a couple of weeks ago wondering about this. No one knew, but quite a few were excited to get one, if they really work! T'would be great if they worked the way they show in the video! |
I use a dremel....but, it is very tricky to use, especially if your furkid is longcoated.....what I did to prevent coat in getting tangled in the dremel (it does happen) I used a panty hose leg....push their nails through it and dremel away without fear of accidently getting coat caught. |
I just talked to me vet tech about this today.....I didn't mention this item (as in the original post), but the pet dremel...she said something about it would be harder with a dremel to watch for the quick...etc.....I don't know. :rollingey She may not have known what she was talking about. I am still going to ask for one of these for my birthday :biggrin: if I hear back about it....shoot....even if I don't...I want to try it out! |
I've been using my dremmel for about a year now. My hubby still needs to wrap the girls in a blanket and hold them still while I "sand", but I've never caused bleeding and I take them down pretty far when I use mine. I can get all the nails done in about 5 minutes. They still don't like it, but no screaming. When we were trimming before the dremmel, I swear I would only take the smallest of pieces and I caused bleeding regularly, plus Sissy would scream (and I'm not kidding) like she was being killed. I could only get 2 nails done and we would have to stop till the next day!!!! I ordered this one, so we'll see how it compares. |
Thankfully, I have never made them bleed (thank goodness), but I hate clipping them....they cringe at the sound and too, their nails get jagged and sharp!!! Lily's nails were soooo long when we got her...and the vet tech said that the quick will be long too....but to keep cutting back a little each time to shorten the quick....apparently I have never hit it yet and her nails are still long, but no where like they were. This tool (above) looks soooo simple to use....I hope it works that good! Jodie when you sand the nails....do you sand down the nail tip? Or side to side or what? The vet tech said if I use clippers to use just a plain old cheapie nail file up and down to sand the jagged edges....can you imagine them sitting still long enough to do that?! I mean, I am doing good their nails all done as it is! |
