Black around genitals 2 Attachment(s) hello. this is my firs post and really the reason i signed up for this site so here goes...... honestly im not sure what kind of yorkie i have....she is small, only about four pounds.....and i think she's a silky coat from what i have read. anyway, the first day i had her i noticed a black circle of what (to me) seems to be dirt around her privates. i took her to the groomer and when i picked her up i noticed right off that the black had gone away some...not all but some. now its even worse than it was then.....granted it has been about three months since i had her groomed.....but i bathe her once or twice a week as needed and this "blackness" just wont seem to go away...... someone told me it was just the pigment in her skin.....but then why does it have a rough feeling to it when i touch it? i have tried everything and cannot remove this, any suggestions? i attached a couple of pics of her....not of the black stuff though....ill try to get some shots of that as well.... |
Sorry I can't help but if it is rough feeling maybe you want to get a vet to check it out....Welcome to YT!!! And congrats on your new baby!! She is a Doll! |
My Pom has lost a lot of her hair in the back from Cushings disease and I have noticed her private part is black as well. I always had her professionally groomed until she got sick and her hair covered a lot. SHe is snappy so she won't let me take a closer look so I am wondering too. |
First of all Welcome to YT and Congrats to your Furbaby ! Could it be that it is clogged pores ???? Rosi gets those now and then, it allways seems to be in the lower tummy area, least thats what my vet told me ! |
I can't help you but she is a real cutie. I would take her to the vet and have it checked out. Better safe than sorry. Welcome to YT. |
She's so very cute, and welcome. Sorry I can't help you. Maybe a vet would know what it is. |
Is she liver compromised? |
Google Yeast infection in dogs. See if the symptoms match. Welcome to YT! Hope you get the help you need. |
There is a vitamin analysis that can be done at some of the major universities that will tell you if your dog is high or low on any vitamins. Little specks that look like dirt around the genitals could be from low zinc, but you would need a vitamin analysis to know for sure....I believe MSU does it, but there may be others...I do not recommend supplementing zinc without vet's approval though. |

Hmm...I'm not sure what that is...I hope your vet has some answers for you. |
Did you ever take your baby to the Vet and see what it was? Murphy had some black spots on his "AREA" as well this year and I took him in to the Vet. It turned out he had a minor Staph infection on his skin. The vet gave me some antibiotics for both pups and it was gone in a few weeks. He said it is HIGHLY contagious through dogs (by the way not the same type of Staph humans get in hospitals) and that he could have gotten it from the park, groomers, vet, etc..... Let us know how your baby is doing? |

well, i have yet to take her to the vet and i feel HORRIBLE about it. the spot is still there but it doesnt seem to affect her at all..... i took some pictures but they came out really bad and you couldnt see it. now she is in heat so i really dont want to bother her privates too much..... i know this sounds bad.....but i probably wont be able to afford a vet until after christmas.....i'm in a pretty rough time. im so worried that her health may dwindle because of my finances! |
Awww you are not the only one, just know that!!! As far as the spot goes and it doesn't seem to be bothering her....I would just tell the vet about it on her next due for shots visit....Now how about some more pictures. |
Welcome to YT. Where did you get your baby from? Maybe they can tell you something. Your baby does look like a akc Yorkie. (full blooded) cute little baby. Good luck in finding out what the spot is. |
O my gosh she has black around her genitals and has worms and your not taking her to the vet until after christmas!! This poor baby! Please take her to a rescue she needs help NOW not after christmas. |

If you're really worried about it, I think some vets will let you do payment plans or you might look into insurance especially if you still need to get her more shots (I think the insurnace covers that). Sorry, don't know what it could be. Does it look anything like the picture someone posted on this thread? |
