Greasy coat
 
Hi Everyone,
It's been quite a while since I posted. Lacey was shaved down in June, so no issues with grooming until now.
First of all her coat is odd... The front portion of her body the hair is very straight and soft and silky, the rear of her is fluffy and wavy and cottony.
Her coat seems to grow quicker in the front area around her shoulder. I may be wrong because of the two different textures, but it definitely seems longer there. I had shaved her down so I know we started with a nice even cut all over.
Now her shoulder area has gotten quite greasy feeling. YUCK!
Her rear wavy portions are not greasy at all.
I am going to give her a bath today and hoping that will help with the greasiness. Any suggestions on how to get her coat looking like one dog instead of 2 dogs?

I do not have any suggestions but I just looked at her Dogster page and read her story and she is such a beauty and looks so happy! I love her coat :)

I gave her a full grooming the other day, washed and blow dried her hair, but she still keeps on the greasy side. :confuse2:
At least she's a bit less greasy now. :)

Lacey is an amazing girl, always happy and loves everyone and everything.
The only thing she doesn't like is going on walks. But that's okay because we have a large yard where she runs her little heart out pretending she is a sheepdog, like my other two dogs. :grin2:

How funny...Lucy doesn't like to go for walks either but she loves the backyard and herds the cats around the pool :)

You can try a good clarifying shampoo and just condition her ends, I have a boy that gets that greasy look the same day of his bath i tried the new shampoo and the clean look lasts about 3-4 days. it is normal for the hair to seem shorter and it probably grows just as fast as the front but the back end generally has a bit more wear and tear on it so the hair breaks off more back there than in the front. I have to keep mine wrapped to get any length in the back. don't worry about the oily look unless you are taking her out it is actually a good quality to have it naturally protects the hair.

Isn't that funny. Lacey cries when we start walking away from the house and cries until we get home. :laugh: I think she misses her brother and sister.

You may be right with the hair only seeming shorter.

Dawn dish soap is good for cutting the greasy coat..then shampoo, I never used conditioner on a greasy coat when I groomed..

Lacey is very cute...she reminds me in a way of Benji the old tv show...I always wanted a benji dog...I had a stuffed one for years..lucky you to have a look alike hehe..
