Nine times out of ten though, they don't even ask about the pet, and if you have current paperwork, I doubt that you'll have any trouble whatsoever. It will be far more timeconsuming, frustrating etc.etc. getting your OWN records, permits etc. in order. Good luck. |
Hi Cathi, I think all you need is current health records as well. Here is a link that tells you what is required. http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/...rt/dogse.shtml Welcome to Canada too. Sherri |
I am pretty sure all you need is to show a health record and that they are up to date on rabies! Welcome to Canada :) where are you moving to? |
A place in... Ontario called Toronto. My husband is from Sherbrooke in Quebec. I do not speak French so it is not the place for me. My husband is looking for job at some hospital and we will be looking for a place to live up there before we move. We can't move until his job is finished here and we don't know when. |
P.S. We are not to sure what time durning the summer the job will be finished so that is why we do not know when. |
I only live an hour and half away from Toronto :) we have a few members on here from Southern Ontario :) I live in London and i know there is at least one other who lives in London and Potter lives just outside Toronto :) |
I live East of Toronto. between Hamilton and St. Catharines, good to hear from other Canadians and yes, welcome to Canada, you'll have to let us know more details when you have them. |

Not to worry, there is never a problem doing this...we went to nova scotia this year...we never have problems going into canada, with our yorkies... |
Strait forward... We went to visit and all we needed was a health certificate from our vet and Rabies certificate up-to-date also from our vet... i suggest you contact your vet and they will get all ready for you in no time. The health certificate expires withing so many days so you want to make sure you have a date set before you get your certificates. They can also be renewed withing a few days of expiration without being charged... in case something happens and you miss your date .... good luck in your new Home !!!!! |
I live in Canada! |
You should have no problem. When I brought Thor through the border, they didn't even ask for any papers...When he flew alone though, they did. Good luck on the move. I moved from NC to BC...it'll be a bit colder than your used to! |
Border Crossing I live in Hamilton, just west of Toronto. You only need paperwork to prove the animal is up to date on shots. In the many years I have crossed the border with dogs and returned to Canada, I have never been asked to provide it either way. Linda |
I live in Canada with my Yorkie Calleigh Just want to say hi to all you fellow Canadians. I live in Cranbrook, B.C. with my beautiful little Yorkie Calleigh. Cranbrook is surrounded by mountains and in a valley. It is often called "The Gateway to the Rockies" and is close to Radium Hot Springs, Fernie and not far from Alberta border. Just brought a doggie into Canada Hi there, Exactly a week ago I brought a YT into Canada. He was brought on the flight, in-cabin, with Continental Airlines. Canada Customs required a current rabies certificate (within the year) and also looked at a certificate of health from a vet in the states. The Certificate of Health was done within 2 weeks of the flight. We were not travelling, my puppy was coming here to live so I also needed to declare him - that won't be the case for you. Continental also required the certificate of health. (When I called Customs they did not tell me that I needed a certificate of health, but the rescue organization got one for us anyhow. Thank goodness they did because the airline required it and customs wanted to see it too) That was all... if you have any questions at all, I would be happy to chat. It is all still so fresh. I can't belive it was already a week ago! Andrea |
