I Need Harness & Hair Accessory Recommendations Hi all, My Layla is almost 11 months so I think it's safe to say she has stopped growing. She's about 4 1/2 pounds, all hair & ears & long legs. Recently a small child saw me walking Layla and yelled out to his mother "Look mommy, a kitty cat!" I have not been able to find a good fitting harness for her. We tried a puppy harness (called L'il Daisy) that looks like a figure 8 that goes under her two front legs and clasps behind her neck, but I don't feel that it adequately holds her in. I don't want to attach a lead to her collar because she pulls a lot and would hurt her trachea. I have also tried the Puppia soft harness which works best except it only fits Layla's tummy area because that part is adjustable. But the neck area is not adjustable and she can slip right out of it by pulling backwards. Layla frightens easily so she has managed several times to slip out of all her harnesses pulling backwards. She has a skinny neck (the collar that best fits her now is approx 10"). Anything anyone could recommend would be greatly appreciated. Also, her hair is finally long. I would like to put bows in her hair but we refer to her as Houdini's daughter for a reason. I know she can probably get bows or barrettes out pretty quickly. I want to dress her hair when she's with me and I can keep an eye on her but I also want to put in accessories I can trust that don't cost a small fortune. Again, anything anyone could recommend would be greatly appreciated. Last but not least, I am getting married in three weeks and I am looking for a red bow tie for my older boy Rylie. Can anyone recommend a site that sells red bow ties for Yorkies (or dogs under 10 pounds), that also don't cost a small fortune? THANK YOU!!!! |
Hi! There's a YT member that goes by Chattiesmom that makes wonderful silk step-in harnesses. Everyone has great things to say about the silk step-in harnesses, and because they is silk, they are less likely to mat the hair :) As far as hair accessories...The best thing you can do, if she can get barrettes out of her hair, is to buy some bands for the hair. There are so many places to buy them, that I don't even know which place to recommend. I put a band in my girl's hair everyday, and she doesn't try to pull it out. Just make sure it's on there snug, but comfy. You don't want the hair being pulled from the eyes too much, so you don't want to put the band in all the way to the skin. Hope this helps...There's a link that has been posted before that shows how to put a topknot in their hair. Then you can add a bow or whatever you want, and hopefully it'll be on there comfortably, so she won't be trying to get it out :) |
