NJ/NY people please read Does anyone in the NJ/NY area know a good place to get a yorkie? Im looking this time around to get one that is no more then 4 pounds full grown. I see everyone here have great looking yorkie's and im looking to get another one, but the prices are so high, i was lucky with my yorkie now i got her at a great price but she is a larger of the breed, does anyone here breed or if you know of a place that is afforable please let me know. |
The only way to guarantee the weight is to get an older puppy. I just got Pixie and she is 13 months old and 3 lbs. With a puppy you can never be sure of it's adult weight. |
My Yorkie was supposed to be a smaller one, and is almost 6 lbs now fully grown (or so I think  ). He's still tiny to me, unfortunately, the quality cost but no one can really guarantee the size until they are 6 months or so... - be careful with 'breeders' promising you 'teacups' |
Where did you get your yorkie from blondflava? I got my yorkie in Brookyn |
I agree with Patti. There is really no way to garuntee the size/weight of a puppy. Even if it does have smaller parents once in a while they will throw a larger pup. I have 2 furbabies. One is 12lbs and the other is 3.5lbs :) |
I'll jump in and agree too. I have three Yorkies and One Morkie. All three of my Yorkies were supposed to be standard and all three are on the bigger side. Noel is like really big. She's 16 pounds and was given back to the breeder then ended up with us. This time around I searched for an older pup and found Tia in our local classifieds. She was ten months old and weighed three pounds - she's almost a year now and weighs four pounds but she needed that extra pound as she was underweight. Your best bet is to go for an older pup / close to or atleast a year this way you know for sure what the pup will look like, the temperment and how big he or she will be. If I ever get another I'll do the same thing and go for an older pup. Best of luck. Elaine |

I bet it was the same place i got mine who also had Kennel Cough....Puppy Boutique, i got my baby from. |
That's exactly where I got her from. I drove all the way out there to find a dump of a place...they told me that she was from Europe, and when I felt what seemed to be a microchip in her neck they had no idea what I was talking about..had to go in the back to look it up! I have since then had the vet check it out, and it cannot be read by their machines, but they say it is harmless.. Unfortunately, you can't help it when you fall in love with a puppy. Her price was sooo reasonable too, and I will never be sorry that I got her. I just know now that if I ever get another dog again it will never be from there. :thumbdown |
Hey Lauraopi, how much did you pay for yours? How old is she now? Also, they lied to me tellling me that she would be 5 pounds and she is now 9 pounds at 1 year old. I love her to death and dont regret it but damn how they lie. |
I paid 800 for her. They were selling "teacups" for 1500... When I got her at first they told me she would be about 4 lbs full grown. She was supossedly 3 months old when I got her, and she weighed 2.5 lbs at that time. She is now a year old an weighs a little less than 6. It's funny because when I took her to the vet he told me that the thought she might be a little younger than they originally said so who the heck knows how old she really is!! Such liars they are. I actually got a reference to go there from a few people I know from college and school (I am a teacher). I could not believe it when I got there. Rows of cages in a small room with these creepy people tearing up newspaper the entire time I was there. |
you know your right....BUTTTTTT we both ended up buying the puppy anyway...lol With my Jada see most yorkies were 1500-1800, so she told me we have two in the back that are a little bigger, so i felt so bad for her and she looked scared, she was $750, i bought her cause even if i could save one puppy from that god forsaken place i did a good deed plus i really wanted a yorkie and she was so cute! |
We got both of our puppies in BK! :) So did my gf (she got 2 too) PM if you want the info... BTW, no one can gaurentee an adult size. If they do, I would be VERY CAUTIOUS!!! Good luck! |

i got mine from this breeder ....cheaper prices you just have to bargain |
No matter what...do NOT go to World of Pets (Brooklyn). I got my Tabitha there and the experience was terrible. My vet also had a bunch of horror stories about them. |
