Yorkie breeders I am new to the site. I am looking to adopt my first Yorkie. I was going to get a rescue but I was told I live to far from them. I could not believe it. I am about 60 miles out of midtown. So I decided to look for a breeder. There is so many out there. I want a reputable one. I was looking at Mistibleu but then saw bad reviews. I am looking for a male puppy on the smaller side. Can you please help? Thanks :animal-pa |
Have you tried Yorkshire Terrier Club of America referral section? |
I would start with YTCA as was suggested. There are some very good breeder in NY state listed there. But remember if you are emailing them or phoning that with weekends coming up many are on their way to shows or at shows. If you don't hear back later Monday try again. You can also ask if they can refer you to someone if they don't have anything available. Also, buying from a show breeder, people think sometimes they only sell show dogs. Actually they have lovely pets that they have decided is just not what they want for the show rings so are sold under nonbreeding contracts or already spayed/neutered depending on the age of the puppy. Sometimes to buy from a good breeder you have to wait. If you go through the interview process and be asked to be put on a waiting list, that can work. Reputable breeders don't breed volume hence sometimes the wait until something is available. |
I did go to the YTCA. There is a number of people there. I wasn't sure if there was some breeders better then others. Since I am a newbie and this group seems like a very knowledgable group, I figured you all would be great help. Thanks:animal-pa |

BEAUTIFUL PUPPIES! Look at my albums and see my Lucy (in a dress!!) ALSO, there's a breeder with the last name Moffit (on the YTCA list.) He had a MALE puppy available. I'm not sure there'll be any tiny's. These guys are show breeders and breed to the standard. My Lucy is 5 lbs now and expected to be about 6 1/2. Good luck - let me know how it goes if you call Tom (look up his website - it's terrible, but he's great!!) Tracey Best wishes |
Wow she is beautiful |

Thanks. I love Wingold puppies! The other breeder I mentioned is Jack Moffit. He's in Englewood, NJ. He's a wonderful gentleman. I know he had a male that would be ready to go in August. If you decide to go with Tom or Jack, you won't be disappointed. If you go with Tom, PM me. Have a great night. Tracey |
ALSO, the best part about going with a YTCA breeder is that you'll know the full pedigree of your pup. That's probably the closest you'll come to a good health guaranty (no matter what a breeder promises on paper.) While I realize there are no guaranties with any living thing, I like to hedge my bets. Both Jack and Tom were able to detail the lines they established for me so I know exactly where their pups came from. They have very healthy yorkies. Good luck.:) Tracey |
I contacted Wingold and left a message. I will try again in a day or two. Spoke to Jack Moffit he does not have any puppies at this time. But I did find a few. Thanks for all your help. |
Yeah, Tom will get back to you. His puppies are really worth it. Actually, I'm travelling on Friday and he'll be 'babysitting' Lucy for me. PM me if you want me to mention your contact. Good luck! Tracey |
Yorkie Breeders The smaller, the more medical problems occur. I have had two very small yorkies and now :mad:STAR at 3-4lbs. has more medical problems that I can deal with! I am so upset and do not trust breeders. I have heard before I got STAR that Jack & Tom were "good", but did not have pups available at the time. Who told you you are TOO FAR for rescue? Breeders ship their dogs all over the country! |
No, a reputable breeder will never ship their dogs all over the country. The only time they do is when they are shipping to someone they know. As for smaller ones yes they can have medical issues. However, if you buy them young more likely that issue hasn't shown up until it is getting older. If I do have one particularly small I do not sell it until closer to ayear of age, already been spayed/neutered and health checks etc done especially blood tests to check for kidney/liver function, perhaps xray if there is any sign of a heart murmur. If there looks like it may have health issues it doesn't go anywhere but stays with me. For ones that are fine, I still interview diligently to ensure it will get proper care, is not toted around in a bag like a doll, and the owner knows if it does get a routine illness as dogs can do, because of its size you can't delay getting Vet help. It is sold with guarantees and for the same pet price as for any pet puppy I am selling. |
Adopt a Pet.com Easy to use website allows adopters to perform custom pet searches by entering their zip code, how far of a radius to search and what kind of pet (breed, color, age, size and sex) they want to adopt. The results show, photos, videos, etc. They bring people and needy pets together. |
