Hello I am searching for a yorkie puppy in the nj area dies anyone know of a reputable breeder who is expecting puppies or who currently has available puppies?

The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America's breeder referral page is a good place to start: ytca.org. :)

To help you screen if you find a breeder not on that site: Reputable breeders will not place a pup before 12 wks of age. They need this time to socialize, also they are a very small breed prone to hypoglycemia (low blood sugars) in young pups. A reputable breeder will not advertise "teacups" - there is no such thing, marketing ploy. A reputable breeder will have parents on site to be viewed and will want to interview you to make sure you will provide a good home.

Great post, I totally agree. Lots of shady breeders, and you'll probably get lots of PM's, but be very careful. No matter who you choose, please visit their home, and see for yourself how the breeding pair are being raised. The only way we can help prevent abuse is by visiting the breeder in person, pictures aren't enough.

Yes, I agree, I am expecting a litter of silkies the 20th and I am in the process of screaning potential parents... :)

I would not have the breeding pair on the premises, just the mom, as I breed her to a beautiful champion that lives in another state. I would, however, have pics of the sire and allow potential owners to contact the sire's owner if they felt they needed to.

Have you considered adopting a dog? We have quite a few Yorkie's in rescue right now. Each of them with their own history and personality. We are looking to place these little ones in great homes. If you are interested please check the website in my signature.

Do go for a rescue puppy. We have them and so do many other rescues. Why? Because puppies are far more work and require more time than most people realize,until they get one.

Come to Yorkie Day and meet a few. We'll have a great time and you can meet all the Yorkies in 8 states who come to celebrate.
