Looking for a reputable Yorkie Breeder Near Syracuse, New York Hello:) I just joined today! I'm 14 years old and have been researching toy dogs for quite some time now. I've e-mailed breeders and gotten some very interesting replies - ex. Some have tried to sell me their Yorkie puppies without even seeing the dogs in person. Then they told me that they were in Cameroon, Africa on a missions trip and would just expect me to pay for shipping their puppy to me. My mother says that is a red flag and to stay clear. I couldn't believe that 3 breeders actually told me the same story!! Well, I'm now coming to you to ask if you could direct me to a reputable Yorkie breeder who has AKC puppies for sale near Syracuse, New York. I am hoping to locate a puppy soon so that I will be able to spend my summer vacation bonding with the puppy and training it while I'm home all day before school starts in Sept. I look forward to your words of wisdom. Thank you so much for your time. Roxie :aimeeyork |
Hi Roxie. You may have better success posting in the general forums. This area tends to get overlooked. Have you considered looking on Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder. If you're open to an older puppy or young adult you could do a real nice thing and save a life and also save a lot of money. And, if you're open to a small Yorkie mix you could probably find a puppy too to adopt. The great thing with adoption (I have five rescues) is that the cost is generally around $300 - $400 and that will include all the vetting such as shots, the spay or neuter (You always have to consider the vet costs they get expensive). If I can help you in anyway, drop me a note. Elaine |
Thanks Elaine!!! We've checked out most of our local shelters and they were mostly pit bulls. I'll try going on Petfinder!!! Thanks so much for your words of wisdom!!! But, I would love to raise a pure bred yorkie from when it was a puppy to have a deep bond with it. Roxie |

I just wanted to point out that you don't need to get a puppy to get a deep bond with them. Those rescue pups are so appreciative for a second chance at a happy life, they bond with you almost immediately. I adopted a one year old (he will be 2 Aug 1st) and he is my little shadow. Our bond continues to grow and grow. Looking for a New Home... I've met Pip and Ginger and they are the sweetest old ladies. Pip would just sit in my lap all day. She's a total doll. :) Just noticed your in NY, you might try Yorkie Haven Rescue if YTNR doesn't have any fosters in NY. Also, remember when searching for a breeder your buying your breeder first. They are going to be your support system for the next 15 years. You can check here or breeders. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Good luck in your search, whether it be for a rescue or a breeder. :) |
