Anyone know of yorkilove in Clifton, NJ? Hi everyone. This is my first post on YT. I don't have a dog yet, but my husband and I are currently looking for one. I found some breeders in the NY/NJ/PA area and spoke to Rita Piko (Yorkilove). She seems like a reputable breeder, but I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with her or has heard anything good or bad about her. Thanks in advance! |
Welcome to YT! I don't have any info. on that breeder, just wanted to welcome you and bump your thread up so others will hopefully respond. Good luck on your search. |
Thanks so much for your warm welcome! |
OMG! You and I seem to be in the same boat! I emailed Rita because I saw her on a Breeder Referral List and got a rather short (and not so friendly) email back from her. She basically responded with pricing that was non-negotiable - "because I breeding quality dog's". I asked her if she had pictures she could send me, or if she offered guarentees, health certif., BAT testing on her dam and sire... just some typical questions. She, again, sent me a 2 sentance response telling me that I would need to call her to get those answers! I personally would not buy any puppy from anyone who is that rude. Her emails were short, full of mis-spellings, and broken english. I just didnt get a good vibe from her. Again - this was just my personal opinion of her and maybe she was just having an off day. I have spoken to 3 or 4 breeders in the past few weeks, and all of them have been exceptionally nice and forth coming with information. I can refer you to one that I am currently looking at in Reading, PA if you are interested. |
Emaire, I am actually buying my puppy from Rita. She has been extremely nice to me. Her broken english, misspellings, and hesitance to answer questions in an email is due to the fact that she is not from this country. Her English isn't perfect when you speak to her either. This was no problem to me because my mom is the same way, so I understand. Rita eventually answered all my questions in an email because I have a crazy schedule and found it difficult to talk to her on the phone. I also called her and we talked further. Rita raises excellent puppies. They are healthy with a good temperament. She raises the puppies in her home and they are like family. I can tell she loves them and cares for them very much. I asked her all the standard questions and am confident that I am getting a good quality puppy. I have spoken and visited a few breeders in the area who were also selling good quality puppies, but my husband and I fell in love with one of Rita's puppies, and we got a very good feeling from her when we visited. Whether or not you give Rita a chance, I wish you all the best in your search for a Yorkie! |
I got Mack from Holly Stellatano (sp?) who owns Yellow Gate Farm and Kennel. Google her. We got him in December and he is a very good tempered Yorkie. He gave us no issues with potty training and is very smart. He goes to work with me at the nursing home and is just a very loving dog. Holly was not overpriced at all either. Actually she was very inexpensive compared to some of the prices I see (not that it matters cuz he is priceless :D). He also came with AKC papers. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. |
Hi, Did you get a puppy from Rita? I am thinking of buying a puppy from her. Nancy |
Nancy4, Yes, I got my dog from Rita. My husband and I love him! He's such a well-behaved dog, healthy, and very loving. Good luck! |

Hi everyone!! I bought my Gracie from Rita 2yrs ago.. Had no problems at all with dealing with her.. She was very informative & helpful.. Our little girl is as sweet as they come & so far a healthy pup!!💗.. However I did take her there for a grooming A few weeks after I picked her up & she shaved her!!😳🤷🏻*♀️.. That being said I would definitely buy another pup from her!! |
Looking for a reputable breeder Hi All- My Yorkie Anthony passed away on December 30th at age 13. I will be looking for another Yorkie after a bit more bereavement time. Anyone have suggestions? I am in the tristate area. |
