$200 is pretty cheap - here on LI you can pay $500+ (especially if they have to extract). We are on the Banfield Veterinary Wellness plan so it is included (pay $340/year for everything - shots, exams, dental... and they have unlimited free office visits, discount on all medication). If you have a Banfield near you (located inside Petsmart stores) you should look into their services. Our vet is wonderful and we have saved $1,000's (I have 5 yorkies).:D |
FYI - as the pups get older they need the dental yearly. |
February is pet dental health month. Most of the vets around here offer 50% off dental services for the entire month. |

Wow that is really cheap. My vet charges $425.00! Outragious I know but in NY vet charges are off the wall. That's why I swear by petzlife in hopes Buddy will never require one. Those charges were two yrs. ago. |
I just got Brownie's teeth cleaned and it cost $380. What I can't figure out is why is it so expensive to get the teeth cleaned yet spaying and neutering can be done much cheaper? |
Its almost time to take Rusty again, I'll let you know what they charge us this time. |
Andy had his teeth cleaned and 1 extraction yesterday. It cost $410.37! |

$200 is good and an FYI Feb is dental month, so you may get a discount then too. TJ has perfect teeth, never had to have a cleaning. Roxy on the other hand, since she is an MVD baby as well, her last dental cleaning, etc... cost $1000 (but he was a B. Cert Dental Vet as well). :) |
I know I am coming in a bit late on this thread, but I had to comment. I am in Burlington County, NJ and the vet I was going to charged between $1200 - $1500 for a dental cleaning with extractions! |
I am lucky that I live in a rural area I guess. My vet(and he is a Yorkie owner also and my DIL and SIL are vet techs for him) just charges 100.00 and that includes meds. I am not sure if I would be able to afford my babies if he wasn't so reasonable on his charges. But the other vets in my area charge the same. |
You know, I think that is ridiculous to charge 1200 to 1500 wth extractions. Definitely on the highend. |
I have a question regarding getting another yorkie has a playmate for my 3yr.old male yorkie. Is it better to get a female or male. My dog is like my shadow and I'm kinda afraid that there will be some issues since you have to pay a lot of attention to a puppy. Have you had any problems regarding this. i think since you have 5 yorkies you could give me the best advice. Thank you |
