Hi! New here and Yorkie questions Hi All, I have been posting on the general page for a few days now.. I had no idea that the regional section existed here! Lol. I am from Astoria, NY and I am so happy to be posting on here. My fiancée and I are getting married on July 3 and as soon as we get back we are going to get a yorkie!!! Its going to be our wedding gift to each other. We are so excited! We already found a little girl that is beyond precious and she has the perfect temperament for us... but she is from a puppy store in Bayside, NY – Vanity pups, has anyone heard of them?? We also went to the Puppy Store in LI (East meadow I think). But now I am worried about these puppies coming from mill =( These stores say no, but who knows right? How does everyone feel about breeders vs. pet stores? Does anyone know or can recommend any good yorkie breeders in the NY area? Or a trusted pet store? Thanks so much and I’m really excited to be here! |

The stores are going to tell you that they get their puppies from puppy mills. Please do not support the puppy mills.. buy from a breeder. |

Adorable female yorkie available I live in Hunterdon County, NJ- About 45 min. from NYC. I have 1 female yorkie ready to go anytime- Home-raised and underfoot. She was born April 6, 2009. Mom is on premise- A bit chunky since the puppies but what mother isn’t after having 5 kids. Pictures of father available when puppy seen at home of breeder- Stud service used- Father 5 pounds. Also able to see mother and father's previous litter's females at breeders home. Zoey a little under 5 pounds and Roxy 3.5 pounds. Call 908-238-0442 if interested. Ask for Jaime or Nancy. The puppy is $700- She has recieved her first two sets of shots. Her last series is due at the end of July. Only serious inquiries need apply. She is working on housebreaking- Doing very well at it. She should be less than 6 pounds fully grow based on mom and dad's previous litters. The puppy has been well socialized to other dogs as well as cats. I have a golden retriever at home so she can take a little roughness from larger dogs. I also have 2 Maine coon cats. Sorry unable to post/send pictures via the computer. |
Hi, Please do not support pet stores that sell puppies. There are some good breeders out there.Contact the Yorkshire Terrier club for info and get references. |
there is a breeder section here in YT as well as a yorkie for sale section. |
i got my yorkie from this breeder; check their website and contact stephanie. they can ship your puppy via ground or air; i think it's best to ship via air; it's less stressfull since it will take less time; it took my puppy 3 days to get to me via ground and she was so stressed. here is the websire Rigby -Yorkshire Terrier - Available Puppies - Pure Breeds - Default Store View good luck; also you can negotiate with them; tell her you are a student and you can only afford certain amount and she will work out something. the prices include shipping so it's great. good luck. |
you can check this website wishbonek9kennel; i got my puppy from there. they have good prices and they can negotiate. if you get a puppy from there ask for the breeder to send by air not ground; ground will take about 3 days and the puppy will get stressed. email stephanie she's helpfull. good luck |
1 Attachment(s) Thanks everyone I already got my little baby, Maxi! |
oh; so cute. congrats. take care of the littly baby and watch what you feed him. their stomach is very sensitive; and never feed scraps or human food. ask any questions along the way. i wish i did before my baby got really sick last year and i almost lost her. |

you dont have to throw the food or treat; pet store usually will take them back and exchange them for something else; where did you get the food; if you have the receipt they will refund them; just say it's not agreeing with your dog. propac is horrible it has corn; no good for the stomach; you need to switch food asap; dont get anything with corn or by products; try natural balance small breed duck and potato. or halo puppy wild salmon; also return the nutro treats and get natural balance treat or Buddy Biscuits Veggie Madness Dog Treats |

petco has a good selection in the back ; the hollistic and natural food section; try natural balance duck and potato; or halo wild salmon; anything natural maybe a bit expensive but well worth it; don't swtich food at once; the puppy stomach is sensitive and need to adjust; put 1/4 new food and 3/4 old food for 2 days; then 1/2 and 1/2 for 2 days; then 3/4 new and 1/4 old for 2 days; then you can totally switch to new food. also pick a natural treat; read the ingredients and you can tell if it's good or not; ask yourself is it something you will eat; i pick Buddy Biscuits Veggie Madness Dog Treats because it has vegetable and my dog loves it |
