Im so sorry!!!! I just heard about this on the news lastnight and I had NO IDEA!!!! I want to apoligize to anyone that I may have given her # to. I got both of my yorkies from her and had no idea of the condition of her home. I saw the mom of both my yorkies and the litter mates of Blaze and Irene has come to my home several times to see both of my babies. If I had none any of this I never would of even bothered to contact someone like this. I do not think she is running a puppy mill but maybe just got in over her head. She is such a sweet and loving lady. I must say SORRY to anyone that I told to call her because had I known I never would have. All I can say is that my dogs are great and healthly. I was shocked at what I saw on the news lastnight. Again, Im so sorry and I hope this is not held against me. I truly had no idea and I am just sick over this! DOGS SAVED FROM CRUEL LI 'HELLHOLE' By TOM LIDDY May 7, 2008 -- Dozens of dogs, including a litter of newborn puppies, were rescued from a Long Island house of horrors yesterday, officials said. Investigators from the Suffolk SPCA said they discovered 56 filthy purebred pooches stuffed into cages in the house of Irene Monroig, 66, in East Northport. "It was a hellhole," said SPCA Chief Roy Gross, whose agency is investigating the possibility the house was a puppy mill. "The house was in deplorable condition," he said. Many of the dogs found in the basement - including Shih Tzus, poodles, Pekinese and Yorkies - were stuffed two or more into small cages, Gross said. "One of the dogs was so cramped, she was stepping on her [litter of newborn] puppies," the chief added. The dogs, as well as two squirrels and a parrot, were taken to the Huntington Animal Shelter, where they will be put up for adoption. |
I don't think anyone will be upset with you, you did not know. Just be happy someone intervened and that you got two happy healthy pups. |

Thank you so much, Im just sick over this. I was up all night w/such a knot in my stomach! I will stand behind what I said though, I truly think she just got in over her head. I do not think she is a mill - she does not sell to pet stores or ship and she REALLY cares about her animals! She has a heart of gold! |
oh my God those poor dogs ! Glad they got saved....its awful how someone can do that even if she got in over her head - she had to know stuffing dogs into cages like that is WRONG |

I don't understand people - how anyone can cage them like that seems soooooooooooooo wrong...moms walking on babies ? She must have known she was way over her head and hell - BUY MORE CAGES if you have too many puppyies if you HAVE to cage. Good thing someone reported/found out - Those poor dogs were probably passing things to each other all over the place.....:( |

I know its not my fault but I did so much research before I got Autumn and when I met Irene the breeder I felt so comfortable. She was fantastic to talk to,she really cared. Called me to check up on how she was doing and even dropped by a few times to see her. Autumn who is a barker would never bark at her but jump up and down wanting her to pick her up. She was (is) so kind. Really loves animals. So of course when it came time to get another yorkie, I called her. Had I known I would of NEVER purchased anything from her. I am a true believer in not supporting Puppymills and I really hope that is not what I did even if it was not intentional!!! |
Awww, it doesnt involve us, but ur our fwiend and we just wanted to send yorkie kisses and lots of hugs. It will all turn out ok......don't worry ;) |

Thanks, that is very sweet of you to say! I don't know why Im taking it so personal its not like I did anything wrong but I just cant explain it, Im so bothered by the whole situation! All I can say is I love my babies very much and wouldn't trade them for the world!!! |
Oh Amie you didnt know and thank you for posting this. Oh I heard on the radio yesterday! I felt sick hearing about it. I heard that lady had 3 different breeds at her home.:( I really wanted to go and rescue one pup after hearing those news but I cannot finacially afford it right now :( |
Just as much as you have no reason to feel guilty, I can totally understand how you would feel. I would also feel just as you do with so many emotions all jumbled up. I\'m sorry that you\'re upset. I can only imagine how gut-wrenching it must have been to realize who that woman was. Big Hugs to you!! Hearing your impression of the lady, hopefully the media embellished just a tiny bit. Not excusing her, but you see elderly people who have hearts of gold but get in over their heads and sort of lose touch with reality all the time on Animal Planet shows. Just be happy that the woman will be getting out from all of that and hopefully getting some support herself, that those animals will be rescued to better enviroments, and that you have your adorable babies. |
aww dont feel guilty u didnt know...no1 knows for sure. its a shame those poor dogs were living like that i mean omg i cant even think bout it when i saw it on the news the other nite i was like wow and once they said LI i was like ok i have to watch it..dont sweat it its not like ur the one who was doing this. |
We all know you wouldn\'t support this type of breeding operation had you known. Thankfully those puppies have been saved and your babies are healthy. Hugs |
