puppypetite store dont know what to do?
 
hey guys i bought a yorkie from a store called puppypetite. i got alot of medicine
and stuff that i got to give it to the puppy. any idea what i should do?

I hate to tell you this, but your puppy is probably sick. I got Reese from there last summer and ended up spending 800 at the emergency vet because her so called "kennel cough" was pneumonia. If they gave you something called "clavamox" you need to take your pup to the vet asap and get something stronger. This medication is the equivalent of giving a small puppy water and does nothing to correct the cough. They also had her on Eukanuba..terrible food, get a new one if that is the case for you as well. In addition, I had a ton of other things they had me give her, but the clavamox sticks out in my mind.. Please take care of this so you don't end up in the same position that I did.. I LOVE Reese but would never get or recommend another person getting their dog from their after my experience...all from puppy mills...good luck!!

Your situation doesnt sound good... Any time a pup comes with medication, thats cause for concern (JMO). What did they tell you the medicine is for? As laurapoi stated, I'd get that pup to the vet asap.... I hope everything goes well and please keep us updated :)

the antibiotic they gave me they told me it was because he will get a cold. im taking him to a vet on Thursday do u think thats to long to wait?

Hi and Welcome to yt, How old is your new baby ? did they say why the med? is he/she sick? you may want to get the baby to the vet. let us know.

He will get a cold ?!?! So the store is selling you a puppy that "will get a cold" ?!?!?

Our puppies are 12 weeks old and have never had an issue - kennel cough, cold, etc. They have their full vacines and physicals to make sure they are in tip top condition.

Yet people balk at the $2000 we charge but have no problem paying $1200-1800 at a pet store for a puppy mill puppy.

Sorry to rant it just bothers me that pet stores get away with this garbage and the suffering that new owners go through when dealing with the results.

Good luck and all the best. Get that puppy to the vet asap. Hopefully everything will be ok.

they told me that because im taking him home he might get a cold. **** sorry for my language but im pissed i got him for my girlfriend and i feel terible getting him there s**t i just hope he will be fine

he is 2 months old and its really not about the money i just wanted to get my girlfriend a great present and now i see there is going to be problems with him. i feel terrible.

How long have you had the puppy? I know that you are given 14 days to get your money back if the puppy is sick. Im not sure how you feel about giving him/her back but it is an option you have. That place sells sick puppymill puppies (you might get lucky and get a puppy that is healthy). sometimes the puppy shows signs of sickness right away while other times it shows up when they get older.

There might not be any problems with the new puppy. But, I would see if you could get him into the vet tomorrow rather than waiting till Thursday. Hopefully you will get a clean bill of health. If not, please do not hesitate to return him and look for a reputable breeder. There are several folks here that could give you referrals.

If I were you I would take the puppy back, you could be looking at hundreds of dollars in vet bills. Buy from a reputable breeder and feel good about your purchase. Don't mean to be cold about it, but you should still have time to return the puppy.

i will take him to a vet tomorrow. there is a problem i sign a contract with them stating that i need a document from a vet stating that the puppy is unfit for sale

Probably just me but I could never take a puppy home and then return him to such an awful and uncertain life. Just my opinion but I feel like once you make the decision to take a puppy home you make a decision to be responsible for him for better or worse...he depends on you now. I would get him to the vet ASAP and get him taken care of.

Hope he's feeling better soon.

This is a great example of why people shouldn't buy from a pet store.

I am sorry to say but you just bought a mass produced puppy, put on store shelf with a pricetag on it's a*s... you don't know what wild ride you could be in for. You have no idea of the bloodline, health concerns or any paperwork at all.

This is a life long commitment, what would you say to a friend who wanted to get married to someone they just met at a bar? What if your friends "prospect" came with medication? You really should take the puppy back and look for a reputable breeder.

The laws need to be changed to put puppy mills AND the stores that support them out of business.

I don't shop at stores that sell animals.

just wanted to say welcome to YT -- you've already received some good advice & if you decide to keep this little furbaby you will find some great support and knowledgeable experience here.

Have you already presented the pup to your girlfriend??

Good luck with you and the poor little puppy. The issue I have with pet stores is that its a business and most don't care about the animals.

We live near the Lancaster county line in PA. Lancaster county is puppy mill central. The Amish are notorious for puppy mills. They give the responsibility of breeding puppies to their children. I don't think an 8 year old is ready to take that responsibility. To the Amish, dogs are animals which are meant to serve. They don't treat them like family members. Its what the Amish believe. Puppy mills are horrible. PA is trying to do something about them but they have a far way to go before the conditions get any better.

As breeders that take the responsibility of raising and placing puppies to only the best homes, it sickens us what happens to poor puppy mill puppies and breeding dogs. There is a page on our website that shows what puppy mills are like. Here is the link - http://ferragame.com/puppymill.htm

Welcome to YT - You have come to the right place.

I really felt relieved to hear that you will do everything in your power to keep the pup.

Like someone else stated, I COULD NEVER RETURN A PUP. He is an innocent soul and if you return him, sorry to say, but something very, very bad could happen to him. He deserves a chance at a happy life.

If they gave you meds, I am sure they suspect he has kennel cough, which is curable. It may take some time to run its course, but with meds and vet care he will survive. Just make sure to go to the Vet ASAP and get a diagnosis, b/c there is a possibility it could turn into peunonmia (sp?).

I can't wait to see pictures of the little fella :)

And again, please DON'T Bring him back, I fear for his life if he was returned to that awful, uncaring pet store hell. :(
