plane trip do you think it is a good idea if i wanted to take my 4 month old dog with me on the plane for travel? if so do i need to give her medicine to keep her calm on the flight? |
it really just depends on what you want to do. if you want to take the puppy, start putting it in a small carrier so he will get used to it. Also, check your airline for carrier sizes. even if your carrier is a little big, if the top corners are soft, you can smoosh it down to fit under the seat. My puppy never made a sound on a recent trip. Also, make sure you take food for the pup. As far as medicating before flight, most airlines have a rule against it but I know a lot of people still do it. When you book your flight, be sure to tell them you have a puppy traveling in cabin with you since they have a limit to the number of in cabin pets they allow per flight. |
If your puppy isn't hyper and yappy then I'm sure she will be just fine. If your really worried about it then just give her four drops of Rescue Remedy 45 minutes before the flight. It's an herbal remedy, not medication. |
o ok, my puppy tends to be quiet. so i guess no need for meds. :) i was just worried like the pressure difference if it does anything to them. i just wanted to see what others experienced. |
Harley and I flew 3 weeks ago. ( He will be 4 months on the 21st!) I called the vet before hand to see if there was anything I could give him to calm him down, and he said no because of his size. BUT I will have you know Harley was an angel the entire trip, even for our 2 hour layover in Memphis! He never made one peep on the plane. I wouldn't worry about it. Im sure your baby will do fine!:D |

ok....that is the real trick... I know that there is NOT a stewardess that would say a "thing" about your sweet little darlings on the plane......I am sure the the Louis Vuitton does help a bit....he he he......I just went to the LV in Nashville and looked at the carriers......whew.......something about putting my "stuffed" animal in the bag that just did not have the same effect....LOL Hope you are doing well....cannot wait to meet you.....  |

I didn't get the LV at a LV Boutique.....Got it on one of my shopping excursions to Canal Street in NY......didn't have to pay near the cost. The LV doesn't mean a thing to those lil precious yorkies....they'll poop in it just as they would any other carrier....I experienced that first hand on my last trip to Dallas. Yep! Tahlulah had no shame and did not discriminate whatsoever......off to the the bathroom we went.....very limited space for both of us....her on the floor so, I could clean it out.....but, we accomplished it. |
I'll be flying a pup back from Atlanta on Friday. Boy I sure hope we don't have any problems but I will take extra puppy pads just in case. |
Good luck! I hope all goes well for you and your beautiful furbaby! :) |
I bought the Sherpa one from Petsmart. I guess its not as "trendy" but it was airline approved and Harley seemed really comfy in it. |
I snagged one from Petsmart for $1. on clearance. It is not pretty but it will work. It will get this gal home safely and you can't beat the price! |

The very same thing Mary.....trying to schedule a trip to Canal Street very soon....LOL....but, I know....what your thinking......."if you will EVER make up your mind on a yorkie puppy, then we can get on with this....ROFLMAO....:):) I think my time is coming.....soon... |
Canal Street How much was it on Canal? Because it is about 250 on ebay. But if it is cheaper up there. Then I might go get one... |
I hope all goes well for you. I had a trip from far below when I took Sebastian home. He kept escaping from the carrier, so make sure you get a good one. |

They don't have them out in plane view....you must approach the vendor quietly and be prepared to walk.....Got mine during the Nationals last year...shopping with a group of exhibitors and they were going like hot cakes. I think I'd like to invest in another.....oh! They come in 2 sizes....ask for the smaller one |
Good God lady The poster did not ask u about some over priced Vuitton bag or how you buy it. They asked about shipping a dog. THE BASICS> :yeahthat:  |
Joke??? Quote:
I think you missed the point....it was meerly a joke.....and Mary understood my dry humor.....as that is what I dearly like about her.....her wit....maybe a new thread about shipping.....and no joking around....LOL.... Life is way to short... |

The original poster was asking about flying with her yorkie and the ramifications, if any she should expect..... There was no mention of shipping a dog. |
Another enlightening fun thread with lots of good info... A sense of humor is a good thing! |
