Where do they pee? I don't use pee pads. My boys go outside to potty. If i am flying where does my pet go to relieve himself. I noticed that people keep saying pee pads but if a dog is not trained to go on one I am sure it would be very difficult to introduce a pee pad at an airport and say OK PEE HERE and expect them to magically do it. What are your experiences with the airline allowing you to find an outside spot to urinate or offering an area for you to go? do you have to go out through the main doors and then go through the scanners again. Has anyone been to O'hare with their pet before and had this specific issue? I have been laid over there about 50 times but never had a pet with me. Help a sista out! Kisses! |
I have flown through O'hare a few times with Bella. She is pee pad trained and does that in the bathroom. However, there is no specific area for a dog to go pee in the airport to my knowledge. You can call the airport and ask them specifically to make sure, but I've never known any to have a place for this. My husband is a K9 cop and when he flies with his working dogs he has to take them outside to go. You will then have to go all the way through security again. This is all the advise I know on that issue since Bella is pee pad trained. But I asked my husband and he said you'll probably have to take them outside. Hope this helps! |
You'll have to go outside, and then come back through security. |
Maybe you could try pee pad training them NOW so that you can use pee pads when you travel? |
Thanks all. Training them on a pee pad is not an option and i figured if i didn't get any one posting who actually did have to find other options rather than using pee pads. I think I will just walk out trough security and back in. I will just make sure i have a really nice layover so that I can take care of it. Thanks yall Kisses |
I still specifically want to know if anyone has had to actually take their pets some where to potty at any airport and how was ur experience. |
I called O'Hare and they referred me back to American Airlines... I was told I would simply need to make sure that my layover allowed me time to take them out and come back through the security checkpoints. That I don't mind at all. The Information lady at O'hare said , well if your paying to carry them on the airlines should have made arrangements for an area your pet can go to as well. I never though of it that way... |
Hope this helps! My daughter had a seeing eye dog and I know that the Houston airport has a specific area to take your dog to go potty. It is marked with signs, etc. But you do have to go through security to get there and and back to the plane. I am surprised that the airport couldn't tell you if they have an area. I would think most would for this very reason. |

When i go I would have to go help my son order food and sit him down with our stuff so both of us don't have to be checked back in my security. and then go potty with the boys and come back through security and then hope i have time to actually sit down and get a bit to each... I just hate when you ask someone an easy question or ask the wrong question and it ends up costing you more time than it should because they cant answer it. |
