International Travel with Yorkies? I have taken my Yorkies to Mexico. Has anyone taken their Yorkie to Europe? Are there airlines that will allow dogs in the cabin for an international flight? I am starting to research this, and would like to take them on a camping trip with us in Europe, since we can't take them on a cruise. |
Where are you planning to go in Europe? I live in Germany and you can fly them into the country. You need to have a rabies and health certificate from the vet within 7 days. Depending which country to plan on flying into things vary. You will have to check with each country on their requirements. I have flown on both Lufthansa and United and they do allow pets in cabin for international flights. Hope this helps. |
Hoping you can find an airline, and have a safe trip. |
Europe We had planned on going this fall, but it may be next year instead. We wanted to go to Germany, to Bavaria, and Octoberfest. I couldn't do it this year as my boss went to Europe at that time, and we can't be gone at the same time. We are interested in renting a motor home and camping, taking the babies with us. Next summer we are taking them to Alaska with us. We'll fly Alaska airlines as they allow 5 animals in the cabin, and are more pet-friendly than most airlines. Thanks for all of the information. Those are the same health requrements that Mexico has. |
Pet Friendly Hotels Hi YT members, I'm not sure if anyone new this, but here is a great pet friendly site if your looking for hotels that you and your pal can stay in. http://www.petswelcome.com/ |

Also your pup will need an ISO microchip and will have to be up to date on his/her shots including rabies to go to Europe and avoid quarantine. Some countries also require them to be on flea/tick preventative, and some countries like England want bloodwork done to show that the rabies vaccine is effective in your dog. So make sure to do your homework on the requirements to enter with a dog through each country you will be stopping at. Desiree & Eros |
hopefully your vet has someone in charge of international affairs like mine did ....there are several countries that require quarantine, etc.....however, France does not ....at least 5 or 6 years ago it did not.......your vet assistant should have a checklist of everything you need to have and do....like a health check at a very specific time, etc.....it is a lot of paperwork, etc but once you go it is AMAZING............they LOVE dogs over there and it was one of the most wonderful fun experiences in my life! |
I did a Google search before we went to Mexico, and was able to get the forms needed for the dogs to be allowed into the country. I know that they can't go to Hawaii, Ireland, or England without a quarrentine, so we won't take them there. We always get the health certificates just before we go, and put them on the flea/tick medication when we are going some place that has fleas and ticks. Germany seems to be pet friendly, so that's why we were considering going there.:animal-pa |
