My Yorkie won't poop or eat kibble while on vacation! ADVICE PLEASE! So, when we take our 5 year old Rascal with us on vacation, he does NOT eat kibble at all. I have to take boiled chicken breast with me and he eats that... But he refuses to eat his kibble....anyone know why? Next, he will NOT poop when we are on vacation, and we go on vacation for 4 nights and 5 days.:thumbdown The last time we went, I did give him some small amount of metamucil and it worked just a little bit...he went once. I have read where if you take some oh his poop from home in a ziploc baggy :eek:and put it where you want him to poop, he will go. Is this true? He does fine at home, we also have 2 poms at home as well, but they stay home if that makes a difference. ANY advice is needed. Please! |
that may help and or you can try canned pumpkin (i believe that is suggested plain) to help him go..he may just get nervous in a new place and get bond up...I know when I am on vaca and in strange place sometimes that happens to me. not sure on the kibble may just be hes become used to that being his vaca food instead of the kibble. hoping others will chime in with advice. good luck. |

I have used the pumpkin before when he had issues at home, and it did work, although I have to make him take it. lol |
it sounds to me like he just doesnt adjust well to being in a new place....lol funny how they can be so particular about things. or maybe he really misses his siblings. |

But I do know when we do take him on vacation, he LOVES every single second of it. Car rides, walks at rest areas, hotel room, etc. Just the eating and pooping worries me. |
I've had that problem with them turning into finicky eaters on vacation. I started giving them nutrical just to make sure they got some calories. I eventually settled on mixing some wet food in with the kibble. I figured they were out of sorts being knocked out of their routines and needed something special. It worked. They eat well on vacation. As for pooping, I try to keep their routines as normal as possible. They get a walk after eating morning and evèning meals. Seems to work. |
