SturdiBag - Large? I will be traveling via plane with Riley labor day weekend. Going down on AirTran and coming back on JetBlue. I have been researching carriers and am wondering if anybody has flown with the Large SturdiBag and how well it fit under the seat? I have read that it is supposed to be really squishy and able to fit under any airline seat.... SturdiBag? large by Sturdi Products | Sturdi Products |
I found dogjaunt.com where they have a pic. of the Large SturdiBag under a seat on JetBlue. Looks like it totally fits.... :D http://www.dogjaunt.com/category/tak...ers-on-planes/ |
I don't have a Sturdi bag but have flown with a soft carrier under an airline seat. I think the Sturdi bag looks like a great bag and like it can be squished a little if you need to in order to fit under the seat. |

Is that the same lady that said she sawed off/shortened her bag by cutting the foam base? Dog Jaunt : Shortening the large SturdiBag carrier for in-cabin airplane travel : Traveling with a small dog |

She has a FaceBook page so I'm going to message her in there and find out..... I checked out others photos and they didn't seem to do that. I was more concerned with Height of the large. It is 12" high but very squishy.... the Small is 10" high....which Riley would do fine in..... (He is about 8 1/2 " tall at the shoulder) but I'm not sure he would be able to stand all the way up and turn around...... Not even sure they would even ask for a demonstration for that...... |

I like how the top of the SturdiBag is squishy & can be pushed down a little to fit under things, but still retains it's shape. |

I think I am leaning more toward the SturdiBag and am just trying to decide whether I do the Small.... which is 18"L x 10"W x 10"H or the Large, which is 18"L x 12"W x 12"H..... It is the Same in length and it would definitely give Ry a teeny bit more room... and it doesn't seem like anybody has had a problem with the Large, from what I am reading..... [What would you do??] |
I found a video on YouTube that shows how squishy the SturdiBag is.... |

The small SturdiBag is 10" tall, so your pup should fit comfortably in it. I'd go with the small, because it works for your boy (shoulder height is what counts), and because you will never have to worry about being questioned by an airline agent. I've been questioned, say, 8-9 times over the years, and I've always prevailed, but it's not good for my nerves (and indeed, the large is officially too large for most airlines). Have a wonderful time! Please send pics! |
Well, there you go. Guess you're going with the smaller one? I just watched the video & was thinking the purple bag looks pretty darn big. Now you've got to pick a color...and there's sooo many to chose from...lol |

Awwwww Man!! There really are a lot of colors! I really like the Navy with its Black straps... and Ry's colors are usually black & blue... I'll have to post pics. of the bag, under the seats, after our trip!! :D |

Got the Small SturdiBag!! 2 Attachment(s) Riley's Small SturdiBag arrived, last night and it was a HUGE Hit!! :) He hung out in it a little, and then he hung out it in half the morning!! It is the PERFECT Size!! He can stand up and turn around in it, if he has to.... So Glad I didn't get the Large!! Florida, Here We Come!! :D |
Glad to hear you are happy with the bag. It definately looks like the small is a perfect for him. Riley looks so cozy in the last pic snuggled with his blankie. |
