Car traveling with Yorkie from GA to FL Hi everyone, I have a situation. Me and my family are going to Florida for my birthday in two weeks and we're bringing my Yorkie but she gets car sick really easily and we have to keep her in her cage because she always wants to run around the car but I feel like keeping her in the cage makes her more car sick. What should I do? |
She could be contained for her safety. Mine travel in harnesses in doggie car seats. She is your vet can give you something for her anxiety. She may get motion sickness when in the car. Try keeping the window open some for increased air exchange. There are also meds for this too. Make the car a nice place for her. Buddy used to get very nervous in the car when I got him 3 months ago. Now the car is like Disneyland to him. At least 95% of the time it takes him someplace nice- Petstore, training, park, etc. Good luck on your trip. |
I would not feed the dog before going in the car. I also give the dog something to chew on while in their crate or while harnessed in the car seat--frequently while they are busy they don't get car sick. There is also some homeopathic travel anxiety meds that you can give the dog before traveling. Good luck on your trip. |
I would check with your vet for a medicine to help her not be so car sick. Also she either needs to be in a crate, have a harness attachment to the seat belt, or a doggy carseat. |
Car sick Hi. So sorry your poor baby gets sick. There is an excellent anti-nasea/motion sickness drug for dogs called 'CERENIA', you may ask your Vet about this and perhaps try it. Good Luck. |
Cr sick. Have you tried the Snoozer Booster car seat? They love it and can either lie down or see out of the window. You can also use the provided tether to keep the dog in place. Very easy to put in car. |
You should ask your vet what you can give your yorkie. Usually, my Chloe gets car sick but the vet gave us these pills that we had to give to her 2 times a day. They were super effective. Anyway,I hope you have a great time down here in Florida ;) |
