Destination Nova Scotia this August We are considering a month vacation in August to N.S. Canada. I know we have some members here from N.S. What are your ideas on a great area to rent a cottage in. We need to be by water as everyone loves the water, for fishing and swimming. Needless to say must be pet friendly!. Anyone travelled there, and have must see places? |
I'm biased...my family are in the Bridgewater area, and I spend a lot of time there every summer :) Nice thing about the Southern Shore...about 1hr south of Halifax...a very pretty city, close to Peggy's Cove, a must see. A little further down the coast are small communities built along the ocean, my favorites are Lunnenberg and Mahone Bay. Along this stretch there is a large beach called Crescent Beach that I feel is just gorgeous...and very dog friendly. I'm also heading out there again this summer so let me know where you decide to explore...maybe I'll find new areas of the province to love! |
I sure will let you know. Would love to meet up with YT folks on my travels. It is so much fun to do. |
Hey I'm from nova scotia, i'm from cape breton, lived in halifax for a while now i'm back here in cape breton, it depends what kind of trip your looking for?? if your looking for more of an outdoorsy adventure, i say cape breton, theres alot of beautiful swimming places here, i go camping up in ingonish alot of the summer, l love it there and the scenery is amazing, hiking, beaches waterfalls..my favourtie place in the summer:).we use to take our sheltie there he hated the car before that but after the trip to ingonish he loved it and wanted to go in the car, it was pet friendly at the places we went and stayed,..ingonish i'd say is the best however it is only if you are looking for an outdoorsy trip, because it is 2 hrs away fr sydney, the main city in cape breton, you can travel the cabot trail which is beautiful and has some amazing lookoffs,so much outdoorsy stuff to do, alot of nice camp grounds and cabins. however if you want more access to city life then i'd say go to beaches around halifax, peggys cove is beautiful, i spend most of my summers in cape breton so i can't remember the names of all the beaches i've been to around hali, but they're nice too..halifax is a great city, i loved it there, i lived in the bedford area, then i also lived downtown, i suggest not staying downtown.. it has alot of bars alot of universitys and it can be pretty crazy at night, loud people drinking, so i'd only go into the city to explore a bit and shop..i hated living downtown i guess i'm biased to cape breton it has my heart and is one of the most beautiful places on earth:) |

I worked on cruise ships for 3 years and one of our ports of call was Halifax. I LOVED it there. For a crew member, at least :D Some of the things I, as a tourist, enjoyed was the Titanic bits and cemetery, "My Father's Mustache" (a restaurant that highlighted insane mustaches HA HA), the park nearby, and, of course, the casino! :) That was a tad off topic, but if you do end up even a day there, it might be fun to check some things out! :) |
