Flying with Jetblue Hi! At the end of the month, I will be flying with Zoey on Jetblue. She's 3 months old and is the daughter of my two yorkies, Eva & Raffie. I have recently moved out to NYC from Las Vegas and have found it hard to live without my doggies :( I was curious to know and hear any experiences of flying with your babies on JetBlue. I've never flown with a pet before and I'm quite nervous! I've already read through some of the threads but any tips/stories specifically about flying with Jetblue would be gratefully appreciated! |
I love flying with Jetblue. Just be sure you tell them to not put you in the middle seat cause they store their equipment for the tv's under the middle seat and it heats up. Also, Jetblue allows you to pre-board when the families with young children get to board, so you can take your time settling in. Have a good flight!! |
I fly JetBlue 3-4 times per year with mine from NYC to Las Vegas. I find JetBlue to be very nice and easy to work with. I always book an extra leg room seat, it gives the dog more space on the floor and also allows me to board first, even before people with children. I like to book a window seat because I feel having the wall against them on one side creates a little more seclusion for them. I have asked for cups of water and/or ice for the dogs during the flight and they always give it to me right away without complaint. I always give them a potty break in the bathroom and they never complain about this either. |
Thanks for the replies! I have booked an extra leg room seat by the window (no other window seats were really available and I hate traveling to/from NYC/Vegas not being beside a window) so hopefully that'll ease the nerves a bit. I was considering having Zoey wear doggie diapers/panties (she's not fully potty trained) just in case of emergencies, does anyone else do this? Also, I'm not sure how well Zoey does with traveling but I came across these (www.petco.com/product/108267/Pet-Naturals-Calming-Soft-Chews-for-Dogs.aspx?CoreCat=LN_DogSupplies_CalmingAids) and figured I would give them a try if she starts to go crazy and my attempts at calming her dont work. Do any of you use any sort of calming products on your pups? |

I have used rescue remedy for pets Bach Flower Essences Rescue Remedy Rescue Remedy Pet 10 Ml before. I will just say, if you are planning to use anything, try it out before you go. You don't want to find out your baby is allergic or having a bad reaction when you are 30000 feet up. I have no used a belly band or diaper on mine. They have always done okay with a few potty breaks- I put the pad on the bathroom floor and then put them down and let them go and then just throw the pad away. Make sure you shut the toilet lid first! :D Last time there was very bad turbulence and some other issues and my little one did wet the bag, I just switched blankets and washed her off in the sink  I had thought about using a diaper once but worried she might be uncomfortable in there for so long. |
I reccomand you buy a small crate for her, and have pee pads there inside so she can do her buissness in :) I reccomand also that you teach her to go potty on pads before you do that if she doesnt know it already :) Good luck ! |
Just wanted to update you all on how the flight went :) We flew last night from Vegas to NYC. Thank goodness the airport wasn't chaotic at the time we had gone. We were quickly checked in by Jetblue and proceeded to security. Since we had the Even More Legroom seat, we went through the First Class line. That was so helpful, only because I didn't feel rushed getting Zoey out of her carrier (along with my other checked in bag) and putting her back in. Of course, she was terrified and clinged onto me as we went through the metal detector and she jumped right back into her carrier afterwards. I had given her a half of a calming chew treat an hour before the flight so as we waited to be boarded (which was about 30 minutes) she was just sleeping in her bag. I gave her the other half of the treat before boarding the plane. I underestimated how good Zoey would do on the flight! I was so nervous thinking about how miserable she would be under the seat, but she actually slept for a majority of the 5 hour flight (granted she was playing with her mom & sister before the flight and at the time she flew out, it was her usual nap time :). She didn't pee/poop in her carrier either! Thank you all for your comments, recommendations, & advice that you had given! :) |
was she in cabin? my family and I are planning to go to florida this december and we need to know if we are able to bring potter in the cabin with us. |
nvm i didnt read the ohter comments |
Glad to hear Zoey had a good flight. |
JetBlue only allows in-cabin dogs, Most flight attendants don't care if they sit on your lap. |
