Get puppy from korea back to U.S? Hello everybody I plan to go to korea in this fall and thinking about i want to get my future baby girl over there, did anybody have their baby from oversea and bring back to u.s? how is the process and what i need to do, could someone give me full detail? thank you so much |
My late Molly was found as a stray on the Military Base that my hubby was stationed at in 2003, he went to the Vet Office on her last day and asked what they were going to do with her, and said Put Her To Sleep, he said hell no, and he adopted her. He brought her back to states when he came home on leave. All that is required were the vac's had to be up to date and she had to have a Health Certificate. She did fly in the cabin with him. It was funny the Flight Attendants were serving her Chicken as she sat in the seat next to him. I have pictures somewhere just can't find them at the moment. |
thank you so much, do you mind tell me how much did your husband pay for Ms. Molly airplane ticket?? |
My aunt had took a pup from Taiwan to US (CA) and it was around $1000 (with all the things needed for the dog to come over) and it was 9-10 years ago. Now, I can imagine it's more. I know it is definitely not cheaper to get it overseas. |
is she got the puppy ship to canada or the puppy was fly in the cabin with her? |
She flew the puppy with her in the cabin to California. I think shipping would be somewhat more expensive because you are having someone else look after the puppy for you in the cabin. I think it'd be cruel to have the puppy fly alone over seas...even domestic... |
ohhh i will be in korea in the fall of this year that y i considering about get my furture baby there and bring her home with me, wow 1000 is a lots, umhhhh might thinking again about it lol |

If they had charged him at that time in 2003 it would have $250.00 for her ticket to ride with him in the cabin. He did have a reservation for her on the flight to be in the cabin, as they only allow 2 pet's per plane in the cabin with owners on over sea's flights. Now keep in mind the Air Line he flew on was KLM. |
Wouldn't the puppy have to spend some time in quarantine after entering the US? |

However, I would caution on buying one elsewhere like that and bringing it over unless you actually do know the breeder well. My reason- what happens if something goes wrong, ie health issues show up later that could be genetic or congenital problems that have not shown up. My advice is always to buy as local as possible from a breeder that will guarantee and take a puppy back and advise you for what ever it is you need for your puppy. But it is up to you what you decide to do. |

hey!!! ARe you currently in korea?? I'm prepping coco to move from seoul to toronto. Since i'mnot from America, I'mnot sure what the process would be but i doubt it'd be much different from Canadian policy Canadian policy states that the dog needs to be up to date with all of his/her shots including rabies and need a letter in English or French (if in Korean need to get it officially translated). Once entering the country, there will be on site vet and the vet will check over the certificate & the dog for $20 CDN I am flying Korean Air direct in August and because Coco and the kennel is under 5KG total, she will be flying in the cabin with me. The airline rep told me that they only allow maximum of two dogs on the plane (not sure if this includes cargo) and your request for the pet needs to get approved by the airline (which takes up to 48 hours) and it is costing me 270 000 won (aka about 250$) If you are thinking of getting a yorkie in Korea, PLEASE do NOT go to the vet, animal stores, or pet stores. no matter what they tell you they all come from puppy mills!!! I got coco from a reputable show breeder in Korea. There are only 2 reputable yorkie breeders in Korea. Let me know if you want their contact information. |
I don't know all the details but the breeder I got 3 of my Yorkies from was in contact with a guy in the military in Germany. He wanted to purchase one of her puppies but was coming here to pick up the puppy. It got very complicated about what the rules were for him to bring the puppy to Germany not to mention the cost. He decided to wait until he could return to the US. He has family in Georgia. I agree with other post, it would be better to buy a puppy from a reputable breeder here in case there are any health issues. |
