Blue Ridge Mountains & Yorkies? Has anyone been to Blue Ridge? I'd like to go in March with my family and of course, the pups. I've found some pet friendly cabins but does anyone know if the town is dog friendly? |
BUMP! Sounds fun. :) |
pet friendly area I have been to the Blue Ridge Mountains many times. I am not sure what part you are talking about. In North Carolina ,Tenn. or Va which Part are you talking about. We went to Pigeon Forge and that area and have seen many people walking around with there pets. The parkway is a road, That starts in Va and ends in I think Tenn. There is many places to pull over and get out of your car.Stopping at the over looks. Please use caution in those areas, With your pups ( watch out for cars) I am not sure about what you mean about pet friendly, If you have a cabin that allows dogs then normally the area is pet friendly. A lot of the hotels in N.C and that area allow pets. At least the last time we went. My husband's Aunt and Uncle live in Sparta N.C., there house is right off of the Blue Ridge parkway, That area is pet friendly. A few restaurants with outside eating areas allow your dogs to sit with you while you eat. I use to have all of that info when I had my travel agency,I kept all pet friendly lodging, cafe, air lines ect. Handy, But can not put my hands on it right now. I am sure it needs updating. If you need any info for a certain area ,let me know Istll have some info. Hope that helps some. |
Thanks Brenda. I was looking at a cabin in northern GA that was advertised in the Blue Mtn area. After some more researching, I did see that Blue Mtn area extends into those different states you mentioned. What is your opinion...we are driving from Orlando. We went to Pigeon Forge last year and although we did enjoy it, we'd like to visit somewhere a little different. As far as being pet friendly, yes I meant restaurants, shops, and tours. I appreciate your help already. Thanks. Merry Christmas! |

Thanks a lot Brenda. I'm thinking of GA only because its the closest to us. I suppose if there isn't a lot to do there then it wouldn't really be worth it. I was also going when my daughter is on spring break which is the 3rd week of March. Any ideas on the weather that time of year? |
I've been looking at the Bryson City/Almond/Cherokee area in NC. It seems like there is more to do there and the entry to the GSMNP is close by. Any thoughts on that? |
