Long Distance Traveling with a Yorkie :aimeeyork I have a Yorkie Terrier, and I would like to know what I can give my dog to calm him down , while having to travel a long distance. I will be traveling from the Middle East to Amsterdam , then to the United States. I would appreciate if anyone has any ideas or suggestions.;) |
Your vet should have something that you can give him/her if necessary for traveling. Only they can prescribe what is right for your dog, a lot of people have found that these little guys travel well, Rizzo does great in his travel carrier, he's quite and usually just falls asleep. Have you crate trained your dog? If not it would be easier on him to get him started by putting them in a crate for a short period, and then increasing the ammount of time they spend in there so they're used to the crate when it comes to flying. Have you looked into flying with them in-cabin? That's usually best, and sometimes flight attendents will overlook you pulling them out of the carrier and placing them in your lap if you place a blanket over them, which also helps them to be calm. Good luck with your travels :D |
Long Distance Traveling Hi,,,Thanks Duece........... I am now starting my Yorkie (BOOMER) to let him explore his traveling bag. I out things inside his bag...toys, chewing bones...etc..but he is to clever, he just goes inside to get them and brings them out. He sits and just looks at the bag. I know that to him it is something new. The vet will give him a pill for him to relax, but can only be given to him 1 time during the whole flight destination. I am just worried that he will act up. He will go in the cabin with me, but incase they just might ask me to put him in the cargo, and I totally will refuse on that. He is to small for him to go on cargo. I guess the only thing that I can do, is hope that he will do good during the whole flight.:aimeeyork:thumbs up |
