Need help w/ traveling yorkie On our way to Florida & lily is stressing. She's panting, & shivering. Will some baby benidryl help? |
Yes, my vet recommends using Benadryl when we travel but you need to call them to get the correct dosage for her. Also, buy the one that is clear so it's dye free and I believe it's also alchohol free. |
I would call the vet for dosage but I too was told you can give benadryl to settle them down. Use the clear dye free. I know they dont get much but a vet should really tell you how much to give. Best Wishes for Safe Travel... |
I would definitely call my vet and explain the symptoms just to be sure; but, I do know the dose for Benadryl is calculated at 1mg/1lb. |
Thank u all. We stopped at krogers & gave her some benedrly ( I call vet first). She's asleep now. Our next hurtle will be going in her bag while we go in a museum. Husband is not happy.... I really thought she would have been better than this :( well make the best of it & keep u posted. Thanks again!! |
Is she not used to going in the car? I know it can't help you now but I would make sure she goes in the car as often as possible and goes in her bag as often as possible so that when you NEED her to she does it without a thought. I hope the rest of your trip works out better. |
If you brought a pillow or blanket from home maybe letting her lay on it will help calm her. We always bring an afghan from our bed for them to sleep on at night when we travel. Without that blanket, they are a mess trying to calm down and get to sleep. Hope all goes well from here on out. |
All is better now.... She went into the museium & did great! She even layed down and played w/ her toy while in her bag. Were back on the road & she's in her bed on my lap asleep. I think we have this now! Boy was I worried, we have everything that Shes familar with. According to my husband lily has more stuff than we do!!! Lol. Thanks again Yorkie Talk!! |
Happy to hear things are settling down. :) Enjoy your trip! |
