Packing list? What's on your *always pack* list? London and I are taking a 1-week trip to Texas during the hot humid season. Our trip will include a wide variety of activities and accomodations. Flying in-cabin, staying with relatives and at hotels, a day at the beach (we will be very careful). Here's what we are planning to bring, altho not sure how we will fit it all! * airline-approved Sherpa Delta carrier that London has already been acclimated to * kibble for 1 week * travel food and water bowls * harness and leash * healthy treats * Heartgard meds, since we will be gone on the day she is scheduled to take meds * no brush, since she just got a very short haircut * sunscreen (is human sunscreen okay? for nose and paws or where?) * no toothbrush stuff, because realistically we are not going to get around to it this week. * health certificate issued within 10 days * copy of vaccinations records * peepads * sedatives just in case for the plane, but I'm not planning to use them * poopy bags What else? |
Toys, blanket, babywipes, Ill think of more in a few. :D |
Here is a thread I started on YT last year: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...orgetting.html If I was just going on a weekend trip and knew there was a good vet around, I'd probably go with: Cage Blankets Meds Food Dishes Toys Hoodie Diaper Leash Harness Tags Shampoo Towels Ear cleaner and qtips Toothbrush/paste |
Great list, Ellie May. Thanks! :) |
I saw that you have sedatives on your list, even though you aren't planning to use them. This is just my opinion, but I'd rather have a barking dog on the plane than a sedated dog. It's supposed to be really risky to sedate a small dog on a plane, and unless you have sedated her before and know how she reacts, I wouldn't dare do it on a plane. Also pack some Nutrical just in case your dog has trouble adjusting to eating in a new environment. I have doctor's prescription sticker on my tube so I can take it on the plane. Your flight prob isnt' more than 4 hrs though, so I doubt you'll need it. HAve a great trip, and let us know how it goes! |
Just read this about sedatives here. FYI. Despite this, acepromazine does have some significant effects that must be considered. It can cause hypotension (lowering of blood pressure). This effect may be exaggerated in Boxers and there have been anecdotal reports of death of Boxers after the use of acepromazine. In addition, acepromazine seems to make it easier for dogs with seizure disorders to have a seizure. This medication should not be used near the time of dipping or treatment with organophosphates for flea control. |
We're planning a trip to Florida. This is Bella's packing list.:) crate car seat harness & lead carrier dresses (5) swimsuit towel life vest shampoo & conditioner (travel size) ear cleaner wet wipes wee-wee pads waste bags pet stain/odor remover kibble & canned food treats comb & brush hair bows blankie (for the plane ride) toy (3) medical insurance info & vet info photo of Bella |
Thanks. Little Bella is so organized! ;) |
One other thing I bring (especially to stay in a hotel) is a extra large zip-loc bag for the wee wee pads (they make them 3-gallon sized). If one of my guys goes in the middle of the night, it can get stinky. I put the used pads in the zip loc bag |

Great idea to pack a photo of Bella. I need to add a photo of Meg to her travel bag. |
Thanks for all the great ideas! We are packing tonight, with peace of mind that we've got a terrific checklist thanks to YT! :) |
