Pet carrier suggestions We will be flying with Lucky for the first time this summer  and have began to shop for an airline approved carrier (preferable soft sided). Lucky is about 8 pounds (he's taller and longer than most Yorkies I've seen; also very lean). We're flying on US Air and they said soft sided carriers need to be 17L, 16W, and 10 H Maximum. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :) |
I have this carrier, the medium size. I've carried both of my yorkies in it before, and together they would have been just over 8lbs. I decided to get a slightly larger one even though they fit just fine, with being two they needed just a little more room. It's soft-sided but there are aluminum poles that give it stability. Read about it and if you would like I'll sell you this one for a much cheaper price than you can find it on line. And, I've only used this the one time taking them into the hotel at Chicago. We have this one for Joey, I love it and use it as a car seat as well; the back straps to the car seat. It fits in a shopping cart, and I also use it when we go to stores that demand he be in something, for example, Bed Bath and Beyond. The handle can be retracted so that you can use the wheels, which would make it easy at airports. In the car, I put it upright so he can peak his head out the top, but you can also lay it down, and use it as a bed. It comes in three different sizes, the small works fine for Joey, who is around 5 1/2 pounds.
