Has anyone went camping with there yorkies? WE are planning a 9 day trip with our yorkie and cockapoo to wyoming and was wandering if anyone has camped with there furbabies and how it went. |
We take Oliver and Brooklyn with us camping....but we have a travel trailer...does that count? Anyway, they love it!:D |
We have taken Murfee camping with us since he was about 3 months old. My husband keeps track of our trips and he says Murfee has over 27000 miles on him. Murfee loves to go camping. He can tell when we are packing to go. Murfee has even been to Wyoming. Have fun. |
we're going camping July 7th through 10th in Sequoia. WE took Chloe last year. she was fine. We just keep her on a long tie out so she can't run away from the campsite. |
I'm sure it will be fun. I know they love going for car rides at least. I just can't leave them at home. I would miss them way to much! |
Yes we took all 3 last year and the big dog too;) They did great!!!:) |
i always wanted a travel trailer. it won't happen soon with these gas prices! i'm afraid to tent camp w/romeo. i'm afraid of wild animals. |
My parents go camping, the farthest they go is like 2.5hours away and Rocky LOVES it, I hate it, but I will take Rocky up there for a day just so he can have fun. It's not like in the woods, it's at a campgrounds and they have trails, a pool, and just room for him to run around. |
No, but it sounds like sooooo much fun! |

My yorkie loves to camp! Its great sitting around the campfire with a yorkie in your lap. We even go backpacking. The most he did was a 20 mile weekend, and he was still running in circles when we made it back to the car! His first trip this year, he was so excited when he saw the backpack being loaded up, he was doing circles. When we hit the trail he was the happiest dog around. Backpacking with Burke (my yorkie) is easier then with big dogs. I bring a Tupperware container with a screw on lid for his water, then use the lid for his food. I feed him when ever we stop for food, typically every 2 hours or so and hes ready to go. Its great because I'm always the warmest with my doggie in my sleeping bag. I do keep a leash on him when we sleep in lean-toos encase an animal comes to check us out. Just watch out Burke still has issues respecting the firepit! I also have to warn all my fellow campers not to feed him anything! |
I haven't taken him yet but this is going to be my first summer w/ Jackson (I got him in Dec.) and I'm really anxious to take him. I think he will absolutely love it. He's such a nature dog and LOVES being outside. I'm really excited for it! We also go to Gettysburg, PA every summer during July 4th week and even though we usually don't camp, we stay in an old motel in Gettysburg during all the Civil War reenactments and such and I'd love to walk around Gettysburg w/ Jackson. |
Yep, both my boys go camping every summer - but we have a travel trailer. The only thing they get tired of is being on the leash all the time. In RV parks they can't be off leash. We take three x-pens with us, put them together for a big run for them. The only problem is they want us to sit in there will them. We usually do, for a while. |
We took Lily when she was about 3 or 4 months old and she loved it! Of course, I don't know how much you can call it "camping" when you stay in a nice cabin ;), but at any rate... she loved being outside and played at the edge of the river, and she slept around the campfire with us sitting around talking. A great experience! I'd take her back in a heartbeat! Tip though: make sure you have prepared for TICKS! We found several on Lily (never attached), but luckily had prepared by using Revolution beforehand. |
