Advice needed - transporting overseas Thanks in advance for any responses. Next week Tiny is going to be transported by car back to the UK, it is with a special pet courier called EASYpet (no relation to the plane company!) He is a nervous dog in general but he travels quite badly, usually he vomits and gets so stressed out he won't eat. Obviously with the journey taking two days this a worry. The courier stops regulary to walk the dogs and also stays in hotels with the dogs at night so they can have a break then too. I'm just worried that because he is nervous with new people he won't eat then either! Any ideas on how I can make his journey less stressful???? :aimeeyork |
aww poor baby...sorry i dont have an suggestion but i hope you get some soon |
Aww I'm sorry but I won't be much hope. I just wanted to suggest bringing nutrical. If he doesnt eat, have the courier make him last some of it throughout the day. Good luck with your trip tho. I hope he wont be too stressed out. |
If you can find Rescue Remedy where you are then I highly recommend give him a few drops 45 minutes before his transport. It's all natural and works beautifully at calming them. |

I would speak with your vet for his ideas of trying to keep Tiny calm while in the car and for the 2 days on the road. Also, ask him what to give him if Tiny doesn't eat. Maybe you can place a piece of clothing in his carrier so that he will have your scent. Wishing Tiny a safe and calm trip. :animal-pa |
Have Tiny travel with something with your scent on it, like shirt that needs to be laundered. Is it possible to have the courier meet with Tiny beforehand? Also, pack some high value treats/food. As Yorkiedaze mentioned if you can get your hands on a calming remedy that should help too, I've seen it in spray form you spray it on their bedding or what not. |
Thats horrible that he is nervous and also carsick.. :( Is the plane not easier and faster then ?? to spain its i think 2 hours from the uk. I live in the netherlands... Maybe you can also ask your vet to give him something to calm down.. so that he is not so stressed and maybe he wont vomit then. Good luck. |
