Anyone flown Allegiant Air with a Yorkie/Pet?
 

I'm thinking of going to Florida again and Allegiant Air has $99 tickets, but I want to take the dogs. I just flew Northwest at Christmas time with Bubba & Roxy & no one even paid any attn to them, they did not tag the bag or anything. NWA just has PETC marked on my ticket to indicate that I am flying with a pet.

Wondering if anyone has any experience flying with a pet on Allegiant? Do they tag your bag? Look in your bag? Etc.?? The biggest problem is they only allow one pet per carrier, where as NW allowed 2 in the carrier, although their rules said below 6 mths no one questioned me. Together, my 2 don't even weigh 8 pounds.

The cost per pet is just $50 each way, but it still means if I fly with both of them in 2 carriers it costs more for them to fly than me :confused:

I flew Allegiant with Bonnie in August of last year. Going to Orlando from GSP they didn't even check her bag at all or ask for her vet records. But when we flew home out of Sanford they did check her bag and ask for her records. On the flight down the attendant told me I could take her out, but on the return flight the attendant was a biotch and I don't think she liked dogs (or people for that matter :rolleyes: ) That is the exact same experience we had with Delta when we flew to Oregon a few years ago...the attendant on the first flight was very nice and let me take her out, but on the return flight they didn't!

All in all I would say flying Allegiant with a pet was a good experience. We will definitely do it again.

When you say "check her bag" what does that mean? Did they just look in it or did you have to take her out? Do they tag your bag? Where did they check the bag at the counter or at the gate?

I would fly in & out of St. Pete. I really wish I could take them in the same bag without a problem, so I didn't have to pay the fee twice. NWA let me have them in one bag for one fee.

I had to take her out when they put her bag through the xray machine in both airports at security.

In Greenville they did not say anything about the pet at all, but in Orlando when we were checking in at the Allegiant counter they asked to see her and asked for her records.

When I called the customer service at Allegiant they were very helpful and nice. Why don't you call them and tell her you have 2 very small dogs and can they fly in the same bag. Even if it says something different online I would still ask.

oh, that's a good idea - all they can do is say no -- but I do know once companies have it in black & white, it's harder for them to be flexible.

I wouldn't notify them that you have 2 in the bag, unless they check, they won't know.

Christmas 2 years ago, I spoke with a woman who was travelling with he Maltese and said she never pays for her. Now I follow her routine. She was not discreet with he dog in any way either. No one said a thing to her. She even fell asleep on the plane, and the dog got out (irresponsible I think), and people around her had to help get the dog.

When I fly with my Yorkie I am very discreet. He has a black pet carrier that almost looks like a duffle bag. I don't feed him a few hours before the flight and make certain he poos and pees before we get to the airport. The only people who you do not want to be alerted about you Yorkie are the people at the ticket counter and the boarding gate.

Kobe is not a barker , so i've never had any problems with him. I don't drug him or anything. He flies extremely well.

As soon as we reach our destination , I let him out so that he can do his business. I feel that I've paid enough for the ticket for myself, why should I have to pay for a 7 lb dog who goes on as carry on, and weighs less than my purse.

I've done this several times now and never had anyone say anything to me. I've paid in the past, but not anymore. Also, I ONLY do this with carriers that allow pets in the cabin. Some do not allow pets. Also, even though I am sneaking him on the plane, I still take all the necessary precautions: Ie: health certificate, shots, etc, in case I am stopped and asked to pay.
