Disney World to build a Luxury Pet Resort FYI to all of you who travel to Disney World with your pets. I just got this information. :mickey: Kennel Operations will transition to Best Friends PetCare 11/28/2007 With current trends reflecting that more families are vacationing with their pets, the Walt Disney World Resort will transition its kennel operations to an industry expert, Best Friends PetCare, Inc. beginning Jan. 10, 2008. They currently operate 44 locations in 18 states. Conversion of Walt Disney World Resort Kennels to Best Friends will occur in phases throughout January and February 2008. Best Friends also is slated to build and operate a full-service, luxury pet "resort" at the Walt Disney World Resort. The one-of-a-kind pet facility is expected to open mid-2009 and will be located on Bonnet Creek Parkway. The luxury pet "resort" will cater to park and resort Guests, and will provide a full range of pet hospitality services. |
Pretty Cool! |
My Husband just told me about this this weekend. I think its great but I never take my yorkies with me when I go to Disney World. I might now. I ddnt like the kennel because you had to walk your dogs at least once a day and when you are doing some parks that may not be possible |
That's great. I wish more companies would come around. |
it's about time!!! can't wait to go! |
I read about this on another forum. I'm wondering.. What's the benefit of this as opposed to what they had before (other than it being another facility being run by non-Disney workers)? Isn't it basically the same thing? Also why would you (generally speaking- no one in particular) take your dog(s) now? They would still have to stay at the kennel at night- and NOT be allowed at your hotel room. I think the word "resort" is a little misleading. I would think it (the trip down, visiting them and leaving them multiple times, etc.) would be more stressful than just leaving them at home. |

That's why I think the article is misleading. |
Yep your right none of the disney resorts allow pets |

Maybe it would be to big of a risk because of irresponsible owners though. |
I know. I dont think they would ever do it though because too many people would leave them in the room unattended to for too long while they went to the parks |
I think that if I took any of my 3 with me on vaction--especially to Disney where there are lots of rowdy kids--they would hate me forever. But I can see where a pet-friendly hotel would attract some people. Maybe those who 'smuggle' their pets in to the non-pet friendly hotels would be encouraged to stay there instead... |
oh i completely misread that You can bring pets to the Fort Wilderness if you rent one of the cabins but they defeinitly need a pet friendly, pet centered, pet THEMED (lady and the tramp and 101 dalmations decorations everywhere!) resort |
Thats interesting I didnt know you could bring your dogs of you stayed in a cabin at FW neither did my Husband that knows alot about Disney. I love FW the resort but I have never checked out the cabins |
